Crypto is too busy with trivialities

How about solving non-trivial matters? Like solving the problem of voting and proposing like we have it today. Check out Condorcet’s Paradox and Arrow’s Impossibility Theorem.

Voting is flawed. Is there a fix?

Holy crap! Is this what used to happen on steem? Meaningful discussions derived from thought provoking posts that aim to evolve not only the platform but it's participants?

I honestly can't say I've seen many posts with content that almost demands engagement like this one since I've been here.

It seems quite obvious that steem needs desperately to reshuffle the deck. I'd be interested to know what the current top witnesses and benefactors of this skewed democratic farce think about the potential of our current process to address scalability issues in all capacities.

The voting aspect alone will become, and should already be full time work that requires paid staff to campaign, organize, have debates, and most importantly prove we all feel confident in the consensus of transparency between lobbying interests.

Seems like instead of a festival of steem there needs to be an actual conference. I wasn't there so I can't say how productive SF3 was or was not, it seemed like a circle jerk orgy from the outside. With all the tech wizadry here do we really need to fly to some place to get shit done or can we not use the tools available and stream live forums and debates on the actual blockchain ?

I mean beer and hanging out is great and all but not when there is nothing to celebrate.

Can't see why folks think vote trading is okay for content & curation, some even manage to rationalize it when things fail IRL exactly because of these things. Steem's biggest problem is quite a low bar, but still..

I dunno, sometimes debates seem like a waste of time. If a better model exists and can come to fruition easily, then it'll outcompete without the hassle of debates lol. I think there are already stuff like town hall talks for Steem on MSP channel etc. My opinion is that most top 20 witnesses and devs don't have enough technical knowledge for blockchains even though they're building something, or just showing up saying something everyday. I mean, they definitely know about the Steem blockchain but aren't exactly anywhere close to R&D buddies in the space.

lol @ steemfest. just nice to meet peeps. but yeah agree about teleconf vs meeting up irl. i used to replace my dayjob's need to drive like 100 km to meet people for sales, to videoconf in my underwear haha
