RE: Abuse Series: Vote Farms

in #utopian-io6 years ago

How many vote farms are needed to have a significantly negative effect on the pool? We can see that there are people who made automated replies to comments triggered by commands, big account trails that don't hesitate to vote themselves.

Moreover, if steemflagrewards take rewards from the pool for flagging, the rewards will not stay in the pool anyway.

I don't know? How many does it take to make the platform look like a joke due to increased frequency of bumping into them?

One vote farm is too many. Steemit and the other platforms are supposed to be POB products. Not money trees for scammers.
Utopian votes itself too with delegated stake are you saying that is wrong?
The reward pool empties every day when posts are paid out. So you are right no rewards stay in that pool. It matters not what @steemflagrewards does. They are small compared to steemcleaners.

Did you know that some vote farms have over 20000 steemit faucet delegation accounts and have made over 100,000 USD dollars in one year?

True, and it's not perfect but who would you rather advocate? The scammer who rubs their hands with glee at the thought of easy money or pre-vetted Steemians who give a shit and cares about their platform?

The latter group will receive the rewards, but these are people who write content of substance, not crap.

This is the case when the flagger claims the flag comment. I like to think of it as reallocating the rewards to the abuse fighter. 😉

I am also interested in the possibility of a downvote bot that burns rewards as another tool provided for stakeholders interested in reducing inflation.

Due to providing ROI on rewarding flags, not everyone needs to claim their rewards and you will "reallocate" all or most of the rewards that "should stay" in the reward pool.

I am not entirely sure what you mean by burning rewards with the bot. Burning comments rewards of the bot by default? Most people will not burn their rewards. That was true back then when people sometimes used the internal promoting feature that does not work since there are bid bots that can offer more exposure and return on investment.

In this case people could burn a portion of their rewards if they wanted to use the valuable votes for exposure only instead of maximising their profit.
