Arts and crafts, mainly arts.
Every good thing comes to an end. Our trip to Hellsinki as well. This was also my last weekend of freedom as I return back to work tomorrow. I have a bit mixed feelings about it though. On the other hand I have missed routines and solid income, and on the another hand I have had time of my life when not working, if you count out broken foot and constant pain.
One of the reasons that going back to normal life sucks is that i don't have as much time in my hand anymore. Probably that means a fewer posts. Can not say yet really. I think i have forgot what are my normal daily routines as my sick leave has been about 3 months now. These past months made me think that what do I really want to do with my life. I haven't decided that yet, but i came to conclusion that something need to change. Well enough about existential crisis, and back to our weekend getaway.
KIASMA the museum of contemporary art
So the whole weekend was devoted to culture. The museum of contemporary art Kiasma, and on the second day design museum. In Kiasma there were multiple exhibitions but the I personally liked Korakrit Arunanondchai’s the most. Some pictures from that exhibition you can watch from here. Also @eveuncovered has made several posts about our trip so check them out if you may.
Another exhibition in Kiasma intrigued me. It was mesmerizing! Pekka and Teija Isorättyä had done mechanical installation called Nature Morte. It was a reinterpretation of The Garden of Death by Hugo Simberg. I just had to take a video from it so here is gif from it.
Design museum
In design museum the main attraction for us was a touring exhibition from design museum London, California: designing freedom. How Californian design has impacted many aspects of our lives. Not least because of technological breakthroughs. This is more than current topic as all our lives depend on technology now days. And without this technology our society would probably crash, at least from its current form. I know that my personal life would crash hard without gadgets.
In design museum there were also famous Finnish design, as it is so familiar to me, i didn't use too much time with it. Funny little detail in the museum was wall behind the main reception, it was filled with Finnish Fiskars scissors! I bet that you can find these almost from every household in Finland.
You can find more information of these places and exhibitions from here about Kiasma and here about Design museum.
Edit: Almost forgot that we had to do some promo at design museum.... ;) just couldn't fight the temptation!
Thanks for a nice introduction to Helsinki's museums. I Really liked the wall of scissors, and it has some dynamics in it - beautiful shot!
P.S.
Life without existential crisis is a boring life.
cheers! :)
Thanks! Existential crisis is fun now and then, not all the time 😂
"Glad" to see that someone else is having an existential crisis :D I'm almost done with upper secondary school and soon I will have to apply to a university. I'm pretty good in school and it wouldn't be too hard for me to get into a university but I simply don't know what I want to do.
And since you talked about Kiasma it reminded me of that one "art" piece that Teemu Mäki made and it was shown in Kiasma. He slaughtered a cat and masturbated on top of it for a video. I hope that you didn't see anything like that in there.
There is all kind of madness in Kiasma, gladly nothing like that this time.
Existential crisis is always with me. I'm just finishing university of applied science, and "just" noticed that it isn't the thing i really want to do:D And i really don't know what would be.
Happy existential crisis to us!
Me when the Nature Morte pieces started moving 😱😍🤩👏🏻
I have photo from you when you watch nature morte so mezmerized that you almost drool😂
The internet can do without that one! 😂
Things will end but they will remain eternal to you and deep filled inside your soul. Have many more to come
