Sunday Morning Longish Run

in #running8 years ago

This morning I went (again) for a slow run up to Rašica hill. The goal was to take the long way at an easy pace and to return the same road. The weather was just right. Cloudy and reasonably warm.

I invite you to join me running up the hill.

Kilometer 5

The forest road at the beginning of the Rašica village

Kilometer 8

Crossroads with the road left going to Selo. I turned right and up.

image.png

Kilometer 8.2

Another crossroads. This time the right road was coming from Rašica Village. It is the shortest way from the village. You can see the forest path going straight up in the middle right. I took the left turn.

Kilometer 9.2

Finish atop the tower with a view towards Šmarna gora.

image.png

Cloudy view towards Grintovci mountain range. Yes, there is some fresh snow.

I didn't take any photos going back down.

The last few kilometers were a bit demanding. After all, I did take three back to back exercises from Friday evening to Sunday morning with some cycling and walking in between. It shows that my upper body is not strong enough. Time to do some trunk strength exercises.

Home again

After 18.12 kilometers and good two hours of an easy tempo run.

On Cloudsurfer 2 shoes. Well, one of them.

Fancy this macaroni design of outer sole?

Proofs Of Run

Going up

Good nine kilometers in 1 hour and seven minutes, a climb to the tower top included.

My goals for this year are to reach the top under 1:03 until June and manage a sub one hour run until September.

image.png

Going down

Despite running sideways in last kilometers I pushed for a sub one hour run and achieved this goal.

Thank you very much for joining me

Until next run, my friends. And do join the @runningproject!

WTF! I’ve never seen those shoes! Looks very comfortable ones.

I had not seen some shoes like that either, I must admit I was impressed, running with those shoes should feel very good and comfortable!

Yes, it is an interesting feeling when you first try them. I can't really describe it. Like soft yet firm and responsive without losing strength.

:) They were invented by a Swiss Ironman athlete of top class. He had constant injuries until he decided to construct his own shoes. They are quite popular.

Great runs and fancy shoes! Never seen them before.

Now you have :)

Which shoes do you use?

Adidas Boston/adizeros and Kinvaras ATM. Both are good ones but I prefer my Bostons.

Big respect for this! I can’t run even not a mile. For some reason my brain needs a ball to get running, just like a dog!
Will regre it Friday when I have my first tennis competition match. Lets start with a single and a double! Will hurt on Saturday and Sunday!

A ball and a racket, I see? Tennis is a great game. I was playing it for many years. I stopped for two reasons:

  • too much of sidewise and erratic movement - I didn't want to twist an ankle :)
  • I realised that I am losing the edge. I didn't try to win the point. I was just passing the ball to the guy at the other side of the net. My reasoning is that running brings a more placid mind and dulls your competitiveness.

Good luck with the tournament. And no back pain afterwards :)

Ps: you certainly know the story about Tarahumara runners, don't you? They kick a wooden ball and run after it. Whole days and nights long ;)

Wow! Amazing view from the top :) I wanted to try out those shoes a while ago, but they are just soo expensive.. and I also saw some reviews that small stones get stuck in the sole when running on gravel, which makes an awful noise then :D (but maybe that was a different model) Do you like the shoes?

Yes, they are expensive.

No, the sharp pebbles doesn't stick into the sole. The sole is quite hard, actually. Inner and outer. These are not typical cushioned shoes.

I am quite satisfied with this version of the shoe. The first one had some issues which were corrected here.

Like a hard edge on the heel which gave you blisters and too soft material for the macaroni part. They were prone to breaking. Other runners told me so. My only issue was with hard edge at the back.

When I first tried them I went immediately for an run into the forest. I was told that these shoes are road only and I wanted to prove it otherwise. It was wet and slippery. I tried running up and down tarmac road and had no issues whatsoever. The grip was great. So I was hooked.

OK, these are not my main shoes. I switch between Salming, Merell, Inov-8 and On. I guess I have around 8 pairs of shoes. I had more :)

Wow, 8 pairs of shoes is a lot 😁 I only have 3 pairs and one of them is pretty much destroyed.

Thank you for taking the time and reviewing the shoe in so much detail. I just recently bought a new road running shoe. It is really light and I really liked it in the beginning, but after several runs it felt like I bought it a bit too small unfortunately 😆

When I am looking for my next road running / leisure shoe I will definitely consider On again. An expensive shoe is for sure worth it for me if it is comfortable and durable. However next I will need a new trailrunning shoe, because the old one is destroyed (ran over 1000 km with it since last year) and I am trail running much more than road running.

And thank you for your long reply :)

Which trail shoes do you use / prefer? I am partial to Inov-8 and Merell.

As for the road shoes. Try Salming. It would be great if you can test run them somewhere.

I will see if I can get a hand on that. I have actually never heard of those 3 brands before :D I usually go for local brands like Salomon / Dynafit / La Sportiva. The last one I got is from Dynafit and I like that one a lot!
Most of the time I buy new shoes at a shop in my hometown, because you can test run them around the building :)

If you like them and are able to get them locally and for a decent price then go for it.

Yes, these brands are fairly new. Inov-8 started as a mud shoe for marsh runners in England, On Running was engineered by a triathlete, Salming expanded their product line from indoor shoes. They all produce great shoes.

Minutes ago I've read a review of Merrell MQM Flex shoes. They look great, too. And they are 99 € with a discount which is a reasonable price.

Thank you, I just did a quick search on google for Merell, Innov-8 and Salming- their trail running shoes all look amazing! :) I will try to get a hand on those to try them out.

Hermoso... gracias por compartir @ervin-lemark. bellas fotos. buena explicación.
