Buds close-Up Photo Shoot

Yesterday I posted a series of magnolia photos and today I'd like to show you some bud photos I took last Saturday.

This is the magnolia bud, I forgot to post it yesterday, so it comes first today. It's the first time I get to see this magnolia bud. Somehow I've never payed much attention to it but last Saturday was my lucky day. This bud is funny though, it's so hairy :)

After the bud opens, it starts to dry off and leaves take their place around the bud and later the flower. I was surprised to learn that some varieties of magnolia don’t bloom until 15 years old, which is a long time. I don't think I would have the patience to wait for 15 years to see a plant blooming. It worth the waiting though.

This is another mysterious tree. I can't identify it at this stage. That dark claret bud however looked very attractive. Leaves are normally green (at least in my world), so any time I see something different, I become interested. So this means I have to go back and monitor it in order to identify it.

Rose leaves, baby leaves, also dark claret, which I love so much. Too bad these are going to turn green very soon.
