Drawing girls | Digital Drawings
Earlier today, I got up, grabbed a pencil, and decidedly began to draw. I certainly didn't have anything particular in mind -- my hand was simply itching to do something with the pencil, so any drawing would do. It shouldn't surprise me, but it still did: I began to sketch a girl.
I mean, yeah, I liked drawing a bunch of things, but for some reason, I always end up preferring to draw girls (anime or realistic, it didn't matter).
In this post, I am going to shamelessly share some of my old drawings (yes, because I couldn't bring myself to finish the drawing and do another new one), which were about female characters.
Wake Up Dreaming
I don't know the name of this character, to be honest. She was the original character of one of my watchers in deviantART. This particular watcher liked the drawing so much that she ended up paying me 50 points on deviantART. It was supposed to be a free/a gift, but heck. I'd take the 50 points (shameless, Aira, shameless!).
You can see at the side how the drawing came about.
The Lineart. As I always did with my digital drawings, I drew the lineart using Paint Tool SAI. The base sketch was done on paper... and I don't remember any more details. Sorry.
The Colors. You can watch a time-lapse video of how I do my colors in the link I provided above or here. Basically, I use Adobe Photoshop CS 6 and its trusty pen tool.
An Angel in Spring
This will forever be among my favorite works.
I first drew her in 2011 when I was 15, solely utilizing vectors by pen tool.
Cringing at how it looked, 17-year-old me redrew the whole thing and omitted the background. Cringing even harder at 18, I redid the whole thing, again, by using SAI for lineart and Photoshop for colors.
Around this time (2013), the "Draw this again!" meme was spreading like wildfire across deviantART, and I just had to join the bandwagon.
Strawberry Shortcake
I couldn't believe myself when I found out that I lost the .psd and .sai files for this work! It made me feel bad about the time and effort I put into the whole drawing. 😭 I like keeping them, even when each PSD file reaches at least 100 MB (I am such a sentimental person LOL).
About the drawing. Her name's Strawberry Shortcake (I think), and she was an experiment. You can see that the proportion was sooo bad I nearly cried. Haha. The experiment was on the colors. She was among the first drawings I did where I tried blending in the darker colors with the lighter ones.
Do I even ever try to draw male characters?
I do. Of course, I do. Only... I really just prefer drawing Sasuke Uchiha. 😂 The interesting thing about anime characters (female ones, most especially) was that they always have something interesting about them.
- Their eyes. The eyes always look interesting to draw. An artist easily gets enamored by their color, their shade, or their shape. I especially like drawing anime girls because of the eyelashes, and how I can easily play around with their eyes.
- Their hair. Even though I kinda-sorta-maybe don't like drawing hair, it's what makes a character somewhat unique. In Naruto, for example:
- Naruto Uzumaki has wild, yellow hair that sticks to all directions.
- Sakura Haruno has pink, straight hair that's pretty easy to draw, yet still looks catchy.
- Sasuke Uchiha has ebony "chicken-butt" hair (yeah, an inside joke to every Naruto fan), that gets pretty complicated to draw.
- Their outfit. The more complicated a character's outfit gets, the more interesting he becomes. One of my favorites to draw used to be Erza Scarlet from the anime Fairy Tail, simply because she has a set of cool and very detailed wardrobe. The outfit adds to the character, after all.
And there you have it. My shameless attempt at posting something. Half-assed post, sorry. 🙈
Sasuke! Some real talent there!
Hahaha. Thank you so much, @gamersclassified! 😊
Beautiful post my friend :)
That means a lot. Thank you, @steemlifestyle! 😊
Wow! These are some great looking illustrations! Can't wait to see some more. Keep up the good work :)
Teach me how to draw digitally, senpai. 😂Strawberry Shortcake reminds me of the little fairies from Yumeiro Patissiere.😊😋
