Hike with me: Diedrichshagen - Nienhagen and back (15 km)
Hello my sunny friends 🌞
Today is the official beginning of spring. Perfect time for a hike! The sun is shining the whole day and when I got up this morning I decided I simply could not stay inside the house. So I had breakfast, did a few things I had to do and hopped on my bike. After cycling to Diedrichshagen (a district of Rostock very close to the beach) I parked my bike in the forest around and started hiking to Nienhagen. Nienhagen is not only a beautiful village, but also a Baltic sea spa. I often go there to enjoy a bath in the ocean in summer. It's pure bliss!
But as it is only 3 degree Celsius today, I only hiked to this amazing place and back. The impressions of the coast and forest you get while walking are magical!
I simply need to share that with you as this stunning nature once again gave me so much peace and happiness 🙂

I love listening to music while walking!
Due to the wind the waves were pretty impressive today
The ships you can see are some ferries to Scandinavia
Walking through this beautiful forest next to the beach will never get boring to me! You can always see the ocean behind the trees

Really a stunningly blue sky and a muddy path today
On my left there is the forest and fields and on my right you can see the ocean like on this photo. Isn't that cool?
When there are leaves on the trees this path looks like a green tunnel
You can find amazing places to take a break everywhere, but I decided to keep on hiking. My body is happy if I do some sports!😉
As I said: Everywhere! But even if it looked very inviting I kept moving
There was a part of the tour where there was no forest but only fields. The sun was so good and warming! It was like heaven's kiss after a long cold winter! You can't imagine how I enjoyed it!🌞
Even the muddy path couldn't change that!

Let me show you why I love Nienhagen so much
Pretty nice view, huh? In summer there are so many tourists but in spring you're almost alone
As sun started to slowly go down again and I had a walk of about 1,5 hours as a way back before me, I decided to start doing so instead of walking through the wonderful and popular "Gespensterwald" (in English: Ghost Forest) in Nienhagen. It is called like that becase due to the stormy coast the trees grew in a very bizarre and mystical way which looks very beautiful. I will show it to you another day! 🙂

I just can't get enough of this marvellous nature
Through the lense of my HTC One mini 2 smartphone the sun made a very spectacular and magical effect. I didn't process that photo in any way, it's just the way I took it
I love how you can find beauty everywhere in the forest
Even the paths look so picturesque here

My hands were so cold that I had to warm them for like 2 minutes before I was able to unlock the bicycle lock. I had no power in my fingers at all😃
After I managed to get back on my bike I returned home and enjoyed the amazing atmosphere and last sunrays for today while driving along the fields

Awesome. I got a slight mythological feel from the landscape. And the idea of “foreign” lands across the sea. Where I’m from in the US there are no foreign lands for at least six hours by car.
Although I could ask a million questions about the hike itself, my only question is... what is the preferred hiking boot/shoe that you use or would recommend??

Beautiful place, love the trees, an I would die to live a place like that because it is like a winter wonderland of life and joy and laughter. Love the cold air too.

And in summer it is so colourful and together with the blue sky, the sun and the fact you can swim in the ocean is just even more cool! <3
And I also love cold, fresh air. With the salty wind from the sea it is even very healthy and people with lung deseases come here to cure themselves :)
And in summer the temperatures are warm but not as hot and exhausting as in Southern Germany where I was born. I love that! :D

Summers are the best, so magical, makes us want to dance and sing like horses down a race track. The blue sky is a thing that is timeless in many ways. The fresh air freezes time and the moment forever for sure, hehe.

I really feel blessed I was able to move to the ocean 2,5 years ago. I wanted to do so for so long. When I first saw the Baltic sea (have been to other oceans before but never to this one) at the age of 16 I was so enchanted that I decided: "I need to live here!! Here my heart beats faster, I am in love with Northern Germany and the Baltic sea!" :)

I'm a nomad for this very reason. I think I will be moving near the ocean in the future :)
Winters are so harsh here in Montreal but are milder on the west coast and also on the east coast...There are some islands for sale, too!! :))
I'm already envisioning it in my head :D
