Who are the players
and what are they doing?

Mars in Cancer = action based on emotions and feelings, things done to strengthen or fortify your physical home, changes in your private life, initiatives to create more safety and security for you and your family.

Uranus in Taurus = unusual choices, experiences, strategies regarding $$$, material assets, possessions, etc. Things that show originality and genius.

Departing sextiles = ideas, new information, things you discover through reading or casual conversation, things you learn during the course of everyday life

What's happening?

Mars and Uranus are both in situations Astrologers call "fall." A planet in fall has to work with a sign -- a set of traits and temperament, attitudes, interests, a "general climate" where it is not one bit comfortable and is often limited or impaired by multiple constraints.

Mars, for example, is Warrior energy. He's built to take action, be assertive (or aggressive,) defend interests and advance ambitions out in the world. Mars is literally made to fight for what he wants, take a stand against encroachment, satisfy passions that are immediate and urgent ... and get the job done as swiftly as possible.

He's not built to be "sensitive," or deal with feelings, or install new deadbolt locks and mow the lawn ... or referee family conflicts. But those things all interest Cancer. So, while he'll get the job done, Mars in Cancer feels kind of wussy and wasted. His usual kick-ass-and-take-names tactics don't work so well here.

Uranus in Taurus is in even worse shape. Uranus is the prime principle of shake-ups, abrupt events, breakthroughs, accidents and "the unexpected." He promotes freedom, originality, ingenuity and innovation -- and revolution. Taurus, however, is the most intransigent sign in the Zodiac. Period. He is dedicated to keeping life stable, keeping things on an even keel, maintaining the status quo ... with a "steady as she goes" determination.

He does not like surprises ... not even good ones. He resists change like a brick wall resists ... well, pretty much anything. His stubbornness is legendary -- and his reputation for passive-resistance is well-earned. With Uranus traveling here for the next seven years -- we have the classic "irresistible force meets the immoveable object" situation -- located in the world of economy and finance. It will be interesting. And it will ultimately end well. But it may not be much fun in the meantime.

That said, let's enjoy this sextile -- with its comparatively easy changes while we can. These match-ups won't always be delightful.

What to expect?

• Action based on intuition and feelings -- done to stabilize your home, family, finances ... perhaps through unusual choices, or in response to unusual events
• Responding to family concerns, family interests, family pressures -- or events related to your private life -- by changing your financial habits, income sources, spending choices ... in order to have more flexibility with your $$$
• Doing things to safeguard your financial independence -- and focusing on "what's most important" in the decisions you make
• Breaking new ground or breaking out of familiar routines (permanently) in ways that offer more flexibility and freedom

If you know your natal chart well enough to follow along ... look for "action" to come in the house that presently holds transiting Mars -- at 4° of Cancer. Expect the "greater freedom" and possible financial responses in the house that holds transiting Uranus -- at 4° Taurus.

This is a sextile -- so the catalyst may be information, an agreement, an idea. It should be relatively easy (instead of disruptive -- which can definitely characterize other aspects of Mars / Uranus.) The results may pay such nice dividends you'll ask yourself why you never thought of doing this before -- or if you did, why you didn't follow up on it.
