Promoting Steemit via Pinterest

Hi everybody,

Lately, I was thinking about how to promote Steemit, as I haven't used other social networks for a long time. Then to participate in a contest it was necessary to share the post on social networks, so I asked a friend and she created a pin on Pinterest.

I also had an old Pinterest account that I no longer used so I decided to recover it and set it up again to share Steemit posts and give my little contribution.

The strength of Pinterest is all in the images and although you can share everything, the most searched and clicked topics are:

• art and painting
• travel photos
• recipes
• flowers, plants
• pets
• DIY and tutorials

I used this account just for DIY projects so I already have some boards about it, so I set up other new boards, especially for Steemit which are:

• Art
• Travel
• Recipes
• Nature and wildlife

For now, I will limit myself to these categories to make the notice boards more powerful.

I will then use these boards to share pins from Steemit, searching through tags for topics.

Later I wish to make a board dedicated to posts that explain how Steemit works, but will need a little time.

How to share on Pinterest

Unfortunately from Steemit you can't share directly on Pinterest, so there are two ways.
You can create a pin, but it's a bit long work, or you can install the Pinterest button as a browser extension.

I installed the button on the browser so I can Pin each photo, which automatically generates photos and a direct link to the post.

For example I shared the nice Leo, from @benoitblanc post. This is a screenshot from Steemit's post, the button appears automatically and Pinterest can suggest the right board, in this case, Nature and Wildlife.

By entering the post, if there are many photos, you can choose which one to share and which will then become the cover photo of the Pin, so it doesn't need to be the first photo. So I choose this photo and click on save.
Leo is now on the Nature and Wildlife board on Pinterest.

If you click on Leo's picture, this is what the pin looks like, with the direct link to the Steemit post, the Title, some initial sentences of the post, and the author. Naturally, each click will open the post on Steemit.

Over the next few days, I'll be looking for a list of posts to share on Pinterest.

Although I believe in the power of social media and sharing, I will not share images and posts without asking permission from its author.

Of course, there are already pins of Steemit posts on Pinterest, but I would like to do something systematic every week.
