SEC20W4 Class 4: High Crochet in Solids, Double High Crochet in Solids and Color Joining
Hi it is my pleasure to take part in this contest this week, I really enjoy as we are making progress in this learning. As I look back and see the progress I am making, it motivate me to do more.
What will be the end product of this engagement training that we are going through? What are we actually making? What is it turning into?
It interest me to know that day by day weeks by weeks we are progressing and we are making something out of our hands.
This week we learn three things which are High point in Massif, double crochet in solids and color joining.
Material used
- Knitting needle
- 2 different yarn colours (pink and sea green)
- Scissors
High point in Massifs; In our previous classes we were taught how to make the double crochet. But in this class we are being taught how to make double crochet in solid. Which means making double crochet that the strands are strong which involves making 2 double crochet of 4 with a chain stitch in a hole
It looked more like a design to the work and it also helps to expand the work to give any length you desire.
I demonstrated it in a video to show how I did my high point in massifs.
Double high stitch crochet in solids; it is my first time of making this double crochet in solid, to make this, two loops is made on the hook then passed through the 4 stitch to the next available hole and remove one loops making it 4 altogether.
Then take another loop and pass it through two loops, then through another two and then the final two it will form a solid double strand. I repeated the process on two rows then I was don for this task I proceeded to add another colour to it.
Joining of Color; this is the most easiest of this week task, I made it using the low stitch which is otherwise known as the low stitch. The design came out perfectly well as I did it.
You can watch from the video how I made the design of adding more colours
So after making half stitch round, I made single stitch with pink colour again then finally join another of sea green with single stitch.
First stage (half stitch)
Here I carefully start half stitch as I joined my sea green colour as shown from the video, then I stitch is round neatly
Second stage (single stitch)
Here I joined the pink colour again and continued with a single stitch and round it one row neatly as shown
Final stage (single stitch)
I continued with the sea green colour using same single stitch and round it one row then I carefully used scissors to cut off the remaining yarn after teing it.
At this point I understand that this tell or pattern huge will help to expand this work to any level or any preference I will want it to be depending on the size of the head of the person I'm making the crochet for.
So this is just the base of it, the addition of another cover was not really challenging because I already know how to make a half stitch.
Then in each row before starting a high stitch in the next row, I conclude each row with a slip by taking a loop and pull it out from the loop on the hook to close the row and make it round.
In all it was beautiful

Please watch the video to see how I did the joining.
Below shows the outcome it is really beautiful the colour combination was nice as well so it makes the work really beautiful. I noticed that the design of the double high stitch was not seen clearly but I think it is because of the texture of the yarn.
