SEC S20W2/ Sleepover, Stories and Creativity
I'm glad to take part in this week contest, although it was a bit challenging but I took the opportunity I had while visiting my friend to tell her kids a story.
I created a story for them as they were back from school, they were so excited to see me and I told them the story after they ate their lunch. I actually think of a story that they will benefit from it both now and when they grow up they will never forget it and they will live to remember what they have been taught so I arrived at the story of creation.
Basically, I know they will never forget the story because, it is something that they see everyday, they make use of it every day too. So each time they look at the flowers they would definitely remember who created it, anytime they look at the fruits especially their favourite fruits they will always remember who created it.
The story of creation
Once upon a time, the earth was empty, no trees, no animal, no human, the whole earth was absolutely empty. Then there was this great man who was the only person in existence, He is a superior being, the most high over all the earth. Who can guess what his name is? ------
So one day this man decided to create form at world by creating earth and other things in the heaven. He first of all began creating the angels in the heavens then he further created the stars, moon, sunlight and everything that is in heaven.
On earth, he created the water (sea) and the land. And that is why we have the land and we also have the sea. So after creating all these things did he leave the land and the waters empty? Nooooo
He created the fish, periwinkles, crabs, prawns, tortoise, snail and every living creatures that are in the water. Which other thing live in water? -------
So on the land he created all the animals, both the crawling ones, the flying ones etc. The sunlight he created, shine on the earth for us. He also made the mountains and He created plants different kinds of fruits, vegetables and a beautiful flowers that we are seeing around us.
So now tell me what is your favourite fruits? what is your favourite animal? So why do you like that fruit and why do you like the animal?
So after He created this beautiful earth and everything in it, He then created humans to enjoy everything that is on it. This is the reason we are here and that is the reason we are enjoying this beautiful creatures. So the beautiful flowers that you are seeing was created by a creator his name is Jehovah. We should appreciate him yeah, or don't you think he deserves thank you from us?
Yes, he is happy with us when we thank him, he also want you to take care of everything he created.

So what is the lesson from this story who can tell me?
After the story, we ate some biscuits and juice then I asked them to draw their favourite fruits, plant and animals of which they did. You can see the pictures below 👇

My experience
I was so happy relating this story to them and looking at the story, it's is not just a fairytale but a story that has actually taken place and it placed a meaning in their life now and in the future. Starting early to teach a child what he or she should know is a very essential for guardians to do.
My experience with them really helps me to understand that like children we should always humble ourselves to learn and show appreciation. To make the work look real I guided them on which colours to use to paint a particular drawings.
For example, the carrots he used the red colour in the body and the green colour to paint the leaves so this make most of this pictures look real.
The most fun moments?
The funny part was when they were actually drawing one of them really mixed up the colours and it was fun. I also used that time to teach them the use of colours. The children enjoy the part that when they mix two colours it gives them another colour It was really fun.
Another funny part was when they asked me question, they asked a lot of questions such as; I quote him directly; "Was Jehovah not sleeping when he created all this things? Was he not tired to create all this plenty things?"
Of course, I'm used to the questions children do asked based on their own understanding and their thinking ability. So I gave them the reply based on their knowledge of understanding.
Their reaction to the story and other activities?
I really got their attention while using questions in between the story. Their attention span is not long so I needed to cut shorts the story make it look real to them and pointed out those areas that will interest them and they will never forget those points.
So this questions in between the story really helps them to think out of the box and see the answer and immediately when I get to the end of the story, they already known the lesson they learn from it. They said "Thank you Jehovah for creating the fruits and butterfly, chicken"
They didn't really do any other activities aside from the painting we were doing, But in addition to this they ate snacks and drank juice after the story. They actually requested snacks while the story was on, but I refused them because I needed them to pay attention and i promise them after the story I'll give them the snacks. I fulfilled my promise so they actually ate snacks. That was another activities that they did.
Memories through videos and pictures
They are 7 years and 5 years, the girl is 2 years old. The 2 years old was really dramatic, she was in control of the paint, she had fun. We enjoyed her disturbances.
Final work
It was fun to have this session with them, i appreciate this contest as it helps in building bonding with children.

It was really fun to tell stories with them and hopefully I will continue that subsequently to help my kids to build that strong bond while learning.
