KINETIC SCULPTURE METALMORPHOSIS, A STAINLESS GIANT IN A 360º TRANSFORMATION ON A WATER MIRROR.

It is a stainless steel sculpture with a height of 9.1 meters and a weight of 14 tons. It consists of about 40 layers of stainless steel grouped in 7 blocks that rotate 360º independently as if it were a large Rubik's Cube. When turning a metamorphosis is generated and in a moment of the transformation, the alignment of the blocks forms the head of a giant whose mouth flows water that falls into a large mirror of water on which the sculpture rests, making it look like a beautiful fountain and modern.

The name of Metalmorfosis arises from the union of metal-metamorphosis words that allude to the material with which the sculpture is made and to the process by which an object changes shape.

This work of art was put to the public in 2007. The artist, David Cerny has explored in his work, the incorporation of mechanical engineering and programming, since the continuous change of orientation is due to the fact that its layers rotate thanks to an engine programmed by a computer.

Made with stainless steel in a mirror-like glossy finish, it makes day and night modify the appearance of the piece; during the day, the reflection of the buildings that surround it, of the solar rays and the different nuances of the sky and the clouds make it acquire a tonality and at night, the night lights make the sculpture acquire another completely different tonality turning it into a light emitter.
