ARGENTINA through my lens (episode #6) - I think I saw the ALIENS on top of the MOUNTAIN

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Dear Steemians,

I was promised to meet with the aliens, but things went a bit different.

The Cerro Uritorco is the highest mountain in the province of Cordoba and I have heard so many interesting stories around it that my curiosity grew bigger and bigger. I filled my backpack with jerba mate and solar cream and I took the earliest bus from Cordoba. Destination: Capilla del Monte, a small town at the feet of the mountain.

On the 3 hours ride, the old lady next to me improvised as a tourist guide. It’s a mystical, spiritual and inspiring place - she told me tapping her hand on my elbow - and I should brace myself for anything that could happen. I should be open and receptive. She asked me about my chakras, and I did not have a prompt answer. She could not hide her disappointment.

“There is a good energy up there”, she says, “and that is thanks to the ALIENS”.

Yes, the aliens made a short visit in 1998, parked their spaceship on the summit of the Cerro for a few minutes, and then left. A brave photographer took this picture just before they disappeared again in a flash of light.

Here I am, in Capilla del Monte, and it does not take me long to understand that I landed on a very special and magical ground. The soil does emanates a strong energy but it might as well be the heat, which is making my temples pulse.

It is really dry, my throat gets arse instantly. I need a drink. When I ask for a fresh lemonade at the closest bar, I get recommended to try a strange potion that can restore my whole wellness, or something like that. It’s 50 pesos more then the lemonade. Whatever, you live only once, give your chakras a chance.

I drink that green stuff straight up, and forget to ask what it was. I am still thirsty and I did not feel my soul reinvigorated. I think of the old lady on the bus and I try to be more receptive to the SPIRIT of the ALIENS.

I take two litres of water and some biscuits at the shop next door and I head towards the mountain, where the trail starts. Crossing this small town, I notice that every shop is selling you the same story. This shop though goes an extra mile, and offers the unique opportunity to take a selfie with an entire alien family.

The base of the mountain is 30 minutes away from Capilla del Monte. With 35 celsius degrees, it feels longer. In fact, I am the only one walking, many come by car.

This is what the entrance of the mountain looks like. Really fascist, I think, but that happens every time I see an eagle. I walk through the gate, but immediately a guard shouts: “Hola! Quel tal? Donde vas?”

I tell him that I intend to go to the top, and he asks me if I have enough water with me. I tell him that I have two litres and he seems satisfied.

Then he asks me 300 pesos.

I must have a very blunt face at this moment, and he switches to English to make sure I understand. “This is a private mountain” he says, and then he waits for the money.

I look around. This is the only apparent way to access the mountain, and there is only one trail. A river is running all around this side of the mountain, and even if I cross it, I would have to get to the one trail there is.

I am really furious, and now anger and sense of revenge are making my temples pulse even more.
I cannot tolerate private property when it’s man-fabricated, let alone natural landscapes, mountains, rivers, beaches…

I pay and move on. It’s too hot to argue in vain.

Right after, another control check makes me fill in a paper with my number, my blood type, and make me declare that I would not spend the night on the mountain. Also, I have to hurry, because they will “close” the mountain at 6pm.

After one hour and half, I feel much better, and this is the amazing scenery that lays at my feet.

There is not much shade along the trail, and not many people. This view blows my mind. I feel absolutely great now and I wonder if it’s due to the weird green stuff I drank.

The clouds shed their shadows on the mountains, and I bless every single tiny cloud that covers the sun for a second and alleviate my ascent.

After 3 hours I can see the top and yet no aliens are on sight. I am prepared to everything, even for my kidnapping and a new life on another planet.

Still nothing. I am on the top. The world is wonderful from up here.

All of the sudden I notice a strange presence. Someone or something is here with me.

It has the appearance of a dog, but do not be deceived! Why is it here alone? How could it possibly get to the summit? I gave him some water, but it did not drink it, why? Is it a creature of this planet? How is he feeding himself? What is he doing by night?

All these questions will remain unanswered, but the legend of the aliens continues...
