Clients of the NZ cryptopia exchange are the unfortunate victims of the first major exchange hack of 2019

There’s confirmation that the exchange has been hacked, and the website is in maintenance mode, losses are significant & all trading and withdraws have been halted unto further notice

before we dive deeper into the hack, let us share some info about cryptopia

• Cryptopia is a centralized cryptocurrency exchange operating from ChristChrurch, New Zealand.

• Cryptopia owners, Rob (Hex) Dawson and Adam Clark started the cryptocurrency trading platform, as a hobby about four years ago.

• Cryptopia had a userbase of one million in December 2017

• Dave Saunders is their general manager

• Dawson and Clark have extensive backgrounds in software development background in technology firms in Christchurch.

first major exchange hack of 2019

• Cryptopia is the first victim of an exchange hack in the year 2019

• various sources say, that at least a Minimum 3.6 million of Ether and ERC 20 Tokens are stolen

• theres various internet chatter that think this is an exit scam, but we discern that, because of the visibility of the owners and their cooperation with the police.

Reddit talks about at least 13 Million Dollars are stolen, but this is not certain.

cryptopia owners say they can not comment on the matter, because this is official police buisiness now

There’s still a lot of speculation untill there’s official news

various clients made an official complaint to cryptopia because they cant access their funds

a previous lawsuit against cryptopia has been reopened

We have noticed some people are go crazy and shout that this is an exit scam on various internet fora, but we happen to know that the owners of cryptopia are legitimate buisiness men, well known in their NZ community
