Value it! The same can't be said for me.
A wise person once said, you don't know what you have until you lose it.
I remember pushing my parents to get me a hostel space in the school so I could concentrate on my studies.
Here I am, in a one room apartment all to myself.
A pin drop silence is observed; no tiny feet running around, there's no Karen, Sharon or Delia to tell them to keep quiet .
No mom to fuss about the attention I give to my phone, no Dad to give me a light out.
Just me, only me with my own pot and nobody to tell me the number of meat to take, nobody to tell me to do the chores.

Suddenly I feel sad, I feel like a stranger in a strange land. I miss them, I miss home, the day crawls slowly away and the joy of freedom and unpacking steals time away.
I have no appetite and I'm not happy, with a big bed to myself; I miss my sisters; Karen, Sharon and Delia struggling the space in bed with me.
Fear and loneliness seeps in, birds are chirping loudly outside which adds to my fear.
Rats take turns in announcing ownership of the house. Strange noises and sounds and no mum and dad to notice my sleeplessness and ask me what's wrong. Surprisingly, I sleep off with a vow not to sleep in the room together.

Day breaks on me with the realization that I'm late for school again! Can you imagine, I thought that a new place would make me go earlier to class. Newsflash! It doesn't, it makes Neriah (me) lazier.
"What's up babe" mitchell says to me as she takes the front seat in class.
"Neriah awfar, I was about calling you" bailey says as she lifts her eyes from her phone.
"I'm good guys " I say, as I adjust into the seat pushing Aaron.

"Hey! Stop pushing" Aaron says.

"Good morning to you too" I tell Aaron smacking his head with my bag.

"Hey! Aaron exclaims,. "enemy of progress, why do you wanna spoil my gorgeousness, are you jealous?"

"Gorgeousness?" I, Bailey and mitchell exclaim busting into a fit of laughter, giving Aaron the bombastic side eye.
"Ha!the only thing gorgeous about you is your brain" I tell Aaron.

"And that my darling is what you lack", Aaron retorts back at me which causes the whole seat to erupt into laughter. Aaron, bailey and mitchell are my friends. We have been like that since first year, we just clicked after Aaron made a joke about the screening officers nails and we clicked .
The lecturer walks into the class and we begin RAD 312.
" What's the name of the course?" Bailey asks.

"I don't know", I replied giving her a duh face.
Lecture commences and the class draws to an end.
It's late already and the plan is to go home freshen up and come back for night class.

"See you in class guys, whoever goes first save a seat for me" Mitchell says.

"Foods on you" Aaron replies.
Bailey remains quiet and we turn our heads to her side, "I'm not coming" she says "Mom's not gonna let me come".

We continue like that without bailey only seeing her in class, very soon she becomes the "x" factor of our group .
On my side the bond between I, Aaron and mitchell grows and we slowly lose contact with Bailey. She changes seat , has new friends and we are cool with that.
Life goes on, one day I fall I'll and miss class for two weeks.
I went home and Im recovering, guess I was just home sick.
Just few days in the house makes me recover fast.
The smell of mum's food fills my nose, karen, sharon and Delia struggling the remaining space I left in the bed. They mistakenly hit me in their scuffle. Dad is at work but calls me almost every time.
My phone rings and I groan, taking the phone to my ear.
"Hello dad"
"Hey riah, it's Bailey"
I'm shocked as I pull the phone from my ear to confirm the caller.

"Longest time riah, no see, what's up; I havent seen you in school, its so unlike you".
"I'm sick, I tell her".. we talk for lengths.

Finally, I resume school on Monday, I'm already exhausted before I reach my seat because of fake pleasantries I have been exchanging.
I see Aaron and mitchell seating in our usual spot I roll my eyes and sight bailey as I stroll to seat with her.
Lecturer strolls in and writes TEST on the board.
I'm not suprised bailey informed about it.
The test finishes quickly and Aaron and mitchell strolls to me. I ignore them and stroll over to bailey, she told me that she got an apartment too which makes me excited.
My sickness made me know who my true freinds are, I see reasons why I shouldn't have ignored bailey because she didn't come for night class.
Aaron and mitchell never called.
I sight bailey talking to ava and gideon her new friends.
"Hey guys, can I borrow bailey for some minutes?" I ask politely,

"Sure you can" , they shrug.
I apologized to bailey and we made up. The damage had already been done we couldn't go back to what we were.

Life is so fickle, the psalmist says it's like flower that blooms in the daytime but withers in the evening.
Life can be likened to friend's, they are here today and maybe absent Tomorrow.
Cherish the ones who stay, enjoy moments you share and value them.
Same said to life, cherish it; cause it's one lifetime, fulfill all purpose and live to the fullest.
Enjoy it, live healthy and lastly value it!!
