Perpetually Autumn

in #original-content7 years ago

If I could, I would live in a place that was Autumn all year. But then I guess it would take away from the magic of the season.

Most people who like this time of year talk about the colorful leaves fluttering to the ground. Others get excited about Halloween parties and pumpkin spice lattes. I enjoy these things too but what really draws me in is the cool, crisp air and the charged energy everywhere. It really is a season of change and I feel most optimistic and lively at this time of year.

China just had one of it's biggest national holidays - Mid Autumn Festival. People get time off work, spend time with family, and eat crabs as well as mooncakes (pictured above). These come in various flavours, such as egg, lotus root, red bean paste, nuts, and fruit fillings to name a few. Though small, they are dense and a single one can contain up to 900 calories.

From what I've seen, a lot of Chinese people actually don't like them so it's the equivalent of fruit cake at Christmas time for Americans (or is that just a Canadian thing?). They are just given away as gifts for the sake of giving. Personally, I like a few of the flavours but then again, I like fruit cake too so maybe I'm just a little bit weird...

Autumn is my favorite! I’m sooo enjoying it right now, just what you need after a long unbearably hot summer;) Mooncakes :cheap or super expensive they are all somehow really bad in taste, I guess they are supposed to be like that😂😂😂

Lol yeah I've tried more than a few bad flavours. I tend to enjoy the fruit ones or the nut ones though. Totally agree that it's a perfect follow up to the super humid summer. That was the hottest I've ever experienced.

Autumn is a beautiful season, just made out a post about favorite places to go in this time of the year. The chinese have an incredible amount of festivals and I found that interesting. Nice pictures. BTW I made a great pumpkin cake.

I'll go take a look at your post right now. Pumpkin cake?? I didn't know there was such a thing. You should make a post showing us what it looks like!

Oh thanks for stopping by on my blog. Is that sarcasm? The pumpkin cake is the best thing ever hahaha It's like cake of the gods in Autumn, totally making a recipe for you can have it and enjoy!

Lol no I've never heard of pumpkin cake at all. Unless you are talking about pumpkin pie?? Sweet!! Sounds great! :D

No, it's a cake hahaha I know about the pie and it's not the same I think, but i can go wrong being english my second language.

Well I followed you so looking forward to seeing a tasty post in the future haha. What's your first language?

Hahaha I'm not gonna let you down, totally posting the recipe. My first language is spanish, and the third one is german... But also learning chinese and French. The best thing or the worst is that I can speak like Yoda in each one Lol
