Motion without moving - Freewrite

Entry 13

'She sits on the keyboard. The click clack an insesant noise deep within her pre-frontal cortex. The words flow, and they don't flow. The meaning loses its meaning as quickly as it gains it.'

There is an art to writing. There is funnily enough a science to writing. Yet, each writer will tell you, from the professional's of the world, to the amateur. We click and we clack. Yet we can't seem to get anywhere. With our ideas, our thoughts, the jumbling, bumbling words crawling across the squishy brain particles that inhabit the thick sculls we tout.

It's kind of like... running in place. There is motion that's for sure. But that motion doesn't always seem to carry us anwywhere. Reputation, fans, eyes across the work we create. There is rarely a constant flow of it - especially for those who take it on as a hobby.

Many writers must come to the realisation that 1)their work isn't that good or 2) the world is a hot mess with lots of people clamouring over each other to be the next F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Not everyone can be famous. Not everyone can even be paid to do the things they love. We must come to the realisation that running in place is a good thing. If you've ever run on a treadmill you'll know this is true. There is motion, and you aren't going anywhere, but you're still working out. You're still doing something valuable with your time. Contributing to the written word, whether it be English, Hindi or Italian. It all means something. It helps you and the lucky few who get to read your work get a sense of understanding. And what is it to be human without wanting to understand and be understood?

Every morning at 8am I wake up and write for 5 minutes continuously and do not stop until the timer runs out. What you see is a stream of consciousness that is me at a point in time just letting it all go, no editing, just automatic mode. Enjoy.

That is true. Life, writing, everything seems at times like running in place - but it is still everything and important in itself :)
