Örebro Castle
The castle with the fabulous name Orebro is the citadel and soul of the town of the same name on the River Svarton, located 180 km from Stockholm, and also one of the most visited sights of Sweden. The history of the castle begins in the 13th century, and for the last seven hundred years, he has been vigilantly watching all those crossing the river to his mighty walls. Today there are offices, school classes, restaurants and even a hotel.
The time of the founding of the castle - the middle of the 13th century, it was there that the first building was erected here - the watchtower. Apparently (the architecture speaks about it, the very structure of the castle) the building was a citadel, a stone fortress, designed to protect city residents from invasions and invasions. Later it was supplemented with an attached tower a few tens of meters in height and surrounded by a seven-meter wall. This super formed a huge defensive perimeter with walls whose thickness reached incredible dimensions and exceeded 3 meters.
The following monarchs equipped and completed the castle, turning it gradually into an example of safety, comfort, beauty and harmony of the engineering solution. By the end of the 16th century, the castle had taken its present form, and the last reconstruction took place here at the end of the 19th century. It was then in Sweden was the growth of the national-romantic movement, and enthusiasts undertook to give Örebro a fabulous look. The landmarks were Gripsholm and Vadestensky Castle, as ancient as Örebro, but not so "spoiled" so much by the ideals of the newfangled architectural styles. Well, since 1935 the castle of Örebro is one of the national monuments.
