Ylang ylang oil is distilled from the flowers of the tropical Cananga odorata. The pic is not my own since i was never in the oportunity to take one as i live in 'the low lands'

The first refraction of distillation is called ylang ylang extra, followed by ylang ylang 1,2 and 3 and the whole oil is called cananga .The first refractions are used for mainly perfumery purposes as the #scent gets smokier when the distillation gets completer.

This essential oil is in my practise very often used for cliënts that suffer from hyperventilation. I make them a inhaler, which immediately gives the brain a signal that increases the urge to over-breath and will slow the breath down.

According to more special backgrounds - none reacts the same - i like to add mountain lavender oil if there are fears involved and frankincense if there is a nervous superficial breathing habit.

As for the scent; its too sweet and heavy for me - i seldom use it, this is to me a First Aid oil wen in panic.

Working with inhalers gives an aromatherapist a excellent way to coach cliënts, it can be composed especially for one cliënt and they can keep them in their pockets and use at all times others will think it is a inhaler to fight flue or cold symptoms 😉

Aromatherapy does not replaces your physisians advice. Essential ois are to be kept out of reach for children andte internal use off e.o. is not without risk. Regardless of the quaity you work with: dillution is wise!

I enjoyed reading this! I too am in aromatherapy and have been for 7 years now. I have experienced and learned most of what I know through Young Living essential oils. I have also took a few classes online. Every day is essential and there's not a day we go without at least diffusing our oils. Looking forward to following you and reading more post. You can never learn too much :)

Hi! There is so much that touches this field that can make you a 'better' professional! The learnig never stops! Nice to meet you! I am not into YL but i am famiiar with some on his team - i really liked reading " Chemistry of Essential Oils Made Simple: God's Love Manifest in Molecules" . In my education there has beena big focus onthe chemistry, you see.

Nice to meet you too. I agree, there is so much to learn. It all intrigues me. In our family, the doctor's office is the last resort. We have learned so much about the chemical constituents of essential oils that it's much easier now to come up with better concoctions for our needs. I love reading his work, so much knowledge on this subject. So do you distill all of your own oils?

No that would be too much. I do buy myself though, at the little farmers. That way i know for sure that none got in between and i can check a bit easier if the crop was indeed organic.
What i can not bring home myself i order. In Holland there are some very excellent brands to order so quality is guaranteed.
I do however like to photograph the plants from the oils i work with!

Oh okay I understand now. I think it's so neat that you find and take pics of those plants. We once thought about distilling some oils at home and buying equipment. However we feel we have a trusted company to buy them from now. Quality is upmost important to us. We've had some not so good experiences with synthetic altered oils that we thought were authentic. Especially using them on our children, it's even more important to us. It's been really nice chatting with you!

@crosheile there are more posts if you scroll down in the #aromatherapyfeed; there was posted about mountain lavender and thyme last week 😊

Thank you so much. I will enjoy reading those!

You are most welcome!

I am learning so much about aromatherapy, thanks to you and your wonderful posts! Thank you! Resteemed. You know about the sad story with no voting power.

Resteeming is good! 😀 thank you! (Ooooh yoi spoiled it all too soon - so did i! Too eager!!!)

Wow, lots of great info. Herbs > pills!

Thank you for the info.....Ylang-Ylang is one of my favorite, we recommended in our Plant Based Practice for folks with tachycardia, as you mentioned panic attacks & very effective for lowering blood pressure, not to mentioned Ylang's reputation as an "aphrodisiac".....definitely will follow your post & upvote....we share the passion....many thanks..much peace2U:)

Oh and thank you for upvoting! 😘

Hi there, following you now.
After all these years in AT i think there is no such thing as aphrodisiac - i for one have no love for this scent, but i do for jasmin. So personally i think that what makes some scents into aphrodisiac is, well....personal preference. But this is exactly what i like so much in AT, you can work specific for any individual - emphasize the uniqueness of a cliënt, so to say. Folowing you as from now on and thank you for your kind comment!

Yes AT is a beautiful world, glad we are communicating.....I found that those who repels Ylang usually have low blood pressure, don't know if that's your case...there is of course as you mentioned personal preference, but it might be good to check that out....glad to connect & to share the passion :) here to support this type of info...keep it coming :)

I am on the lower side, indeed most of the time. As for now things are a bit messed up since i am a breast cancer survivor, coming only just out of hospital interventions. Pressure has been more up lately 😉

I understand, thank you for sharing....allow me to recommend milk of magnesia instead of chemical deodorants, cotton bra instead of synthetic fabric bra which defuses chemicals for the life of the fabric and the daily application of Lavender Essential Oil on breasts, as prevention...Lavender E.O. has been known to reduced breast tumors, I have seen it.
