To steemit or not to steemit?

in #steemit5 years ago

I'm seriously considering dropping Steemit.

It seems to have stagnated. Or worse.

Is anyone else feeling this way about it?

I'm here for the duration. It's still infinitely better than Fascistbook. Plus, it's anarchy in action - building something new outside the disgusting status quo. It's going to take some time. And I never expected to get rich with it, anyway... :-)

^^ What he said.
It has been too quiet in here, and the energy, if not lost, has gone quiet.
It's not just price, but the combination of low price and uncertainty over an extended time. It's clear that no one is going to passively get rich, it's going to take work for even moderate success. Combine that with no guarantee that the work will pay off, and you have our current situation.
Those who leave loudly and vocally (or who stay and complain loudly and vocally) were hoping for a solution to come from a governance or structure and not from themselves. They wanted "freedom from" an existing structure but didn't like "freedom to" create their own.
Those who are willing to build will still have to decide if this is the place they want to do it.
I prefer to stay here. So many people and projects try to be something they are not. Steemit pretty much is what it is, and what people make of it. I like that.

I agree completely. Also, it seems to have flushed out a lot of the bots and shitty curators. I hope you stick around @dullhawk.

It's still way ahead of it was when I started, and I am OK with riding out the post-bubble fallout. There also seems to be less spam now that the easy money is gone.

It's not about the money. Just feels like the place is dying a slow death. I could be wrong, though.

The devs do seem to have dropped the ball, and the community seems morose at times, but I think there are still active, interesting people creating original content on here, and once this crypto slump ends, more should come.

I mentioned this, this week - and it has nothing to do with price.

The energy in the place has dissipated...

When I joined - 16 months ago or so - prices were low, but the enthusiasm was high....
It does 'feel' different in here ,at the moment...

Agreed. We are all just kinda here. Not very engaged. Just sitting quietly in the corner. BIg difference.

...it's weird , isn't it?

followed you though - no one else is talking !
lolol
(my bedtime soon though)

We all need our RC's for posting.

Yeah. That's more what I am talking about. Not so much the price. I've never seriously thought about cashing out-- although when it said my account was worth $870 billion a while back I wished I could cash out and run.

The bear is running. Not only steem but also all cryptos are lossing their value. We have to wait for bull market. Maybe take upto 3-4 months or year. Everything is possible in crypto world. But always love Steemit.
