What does the near future look like to you?
Early adopters of cryptocurrency are trying to see the future. Yes, maybe for long term gain. Maybe even for short term gain.
What will be the next Bitcoin (https://bitcoin.org/en/)? The next Ethereum (https://www.ethereum.org)? The next moonshot, taking our investments into space and beyond? Will it be:

Power Ledger? https://powerledger.io
EOS? https://eos.io
Ripple? https://ripple.com
Siacoin? https://sia.tech
Augur? https://augur.net
Factom? https://www.factom.com; or maybe
SmartCash? https://smartcash.cc
Or one of the hundreds of other blockchain technologies amping up to change the world near you (https://coinmarketcap.com/1)
The thing is, the ideas behind each of these blockchain technologies have the potential to disrupt the way things are being done. Big things. Important things.
And people buying cryptocurrencies are thinking about the future, about what it will look like, and are investing in that vision. Already, $USD 280 Billion has been invested in the cryptocurrency market. And that's less than 1/25th of the money invested in the NASDAQ stock exchange, which lists US tech companies. (Last time I looked the NASDAQ was about USD $7 Trillion)
Buying crypto is kind of like buying shares in Apple, and kind of like buying the latest iPad at the same time. But totally different at the same time. Nobody knows how it will end, for one.
But one thing is certain: disruptive blockchain technology will impact on our lives sooner than we may think.

I agree that crypto is the near future after a slow(retarded) and very dodgy birth(bitcoin is a bit like jesus) I like PIRL , LISK and Deep Onion at the moment but I'm very sure newer and better coins are just around the corner and coin development will flourish for years to come
