"Ciani Concepts" - Triumphant Synth Composition

Resonators tune a 1970s interview with synth pioneer Suzzane Ciani into a drone underscore for synth opulence... her importance to the art form and contribution to the adoption of the Buchla "west coast" synthesis methodology cannot be understated, but this piece speaks more to her right brain, organic-and-always-evolving side than anything particularly technical. For a deep dive into both her mindset and technique, a better video cannot be found than this recent masterclass:

My piece is rounded out with arpeggiated plucks ... I'm manually tweaking the rate of the arpeggiator to get some trills out of the tom timbres and keep the loop interesting with a 24 bar percussion loop living over a 32 bar chord progression. Mimicking this effect is some ableton beat repeat on the minimalist 808 snare and end lead (this is what's lending some of the cool detuned chorus effect, as the beat repeat happens an octave down) and a serious amount of fussing over the delay wet/dry level and feedback. Fun fact: although this piece came together very quickly, it took me about an hour to play the silly "triumphant" organ part on a keyboard, just to get it to sound like a human being played it accurately.
