A good option for breakfast! Recipe too.
If you are bored with fancy breakfasts and with your regular breakfast, try south indian food as breakfast. It is light to digest and even ful filling your stomach. It tastes amazing.
Today we had dosa with sambhar and famous south indian chutney.
South Indian people always have these light food as their breakfast.
Some amazing south indian food you may like are idli, vada, dal vada, a big variety of dosas , uttpam and many more. It is served with sambhar and chutney. You could easily get it in india and some indian restaurants in abroad.
It is always at a cheaper price than all other food. Like a dosa cost around rs 100- rs 150 and that too it is served a nice portion.
But as I am so much in cooking, I prefer to make everything at home just because of some hygiene problem.
Recipe for Sambhar
- Soak a cup of arhar dal.
- Take 1 carrot, half of bottle gourd, a small piece of pumkin around 200 gram, 5-10 beans or any of the vegetable you wish to add. Cut everything into small pieces. and keep it aside.
- Take a pressure cooker, add oil or ghee into it. Drop in some jeera, and some mustard seeds and let it pop for a minute. Add a finely chopped onion and let it turn golden brown.
- Add 1 finely chopped tomatoes. let it cook.
- Add spices, salt as per taste, 1tbsp of red chilly powder, half a teaspoon of turmeric, 1/2 tbsp of garam masala.
- Add 2 glasses of water.
- Add all the vegetables and the soaked dal.
- cover it with the lid and wait for 4 to 5 whistles, it will take around 10 mins.
- now, the magic of sambhar. Take a tagda pan, add 2 tbsp of oil. add jeera and mustard seeds and let it pop. Add curry leaves into it. Add 2 tbsp of sambhar masala and let it cook for a minute. add this tadka to the sambhar. This is the main step, you cannot miss this step.
Ik this is quite confusing at first.But once you try to cook it, you will feel easy and It tastes amazing.
