I live in Canberra even if I am in India right now, and I will be back in Canberra in the month of December when it's the top summer season. Canberra, the capital of Australia, is a vibrant and diverse place that tourists often overlook in favor of Sydney or Melbourne which are close to Canberra.

By the way, if they had not decided to build this city and chosen it as the Capital of Australia, either Melbourne or Sydney would have this opportunity.

Canberra is a relatively new and modern city with a fascinating history and many unique features that make it worth visiting. When they decided to select a capital for Australia, they also added stunning architecture to its rich cultural heritage.

Canberra offers a plethora of experiences for visitors and even if I am not a visitor I feel thrilled when I go for a long walk or sightseeing in this city. The next time you plan your holidays with family or friends in Australia, make sure Canberra is a part of it, or if you are invited to come and stay with me, my wife will be happy to play host for you.

These are some of the best activities to enjoy while you are there.

Lake Burley Griffin

The lake, named after Walter Burley Griffin, the American architect who designed Canberra, forms the center of the city. Most major buildings, such as the National Library, National Gallery, National Museum, Australian National University, High Court, and Parliament House, are located near the lake. Most tourists prefer to board an eco-friendly electric boat, the GoBoat, and eScooters/eBikes for a relaxing stroll around the lake after or before a meal at one of the many cafes nearby. The parks are a perfect place to enjoy a picnic with a number of walking trails and exercise facilities.

Check the calendars of the Mount Stromlo Observatory and the Canberra Astronomical Society to see when they host free stargazing nights. If the weather is good, you'll be in for a memorable lecture under a starlit sky at night. You can also book a private astronomy session or a guided walking tour of the observatory and learn about its history and science, or go on the self-guided Mount Stromlo Heritage Trail.

Hot Air Balloon Tour

Canberra is a beautiful city, and the best way to admire the scenery and its strategic location is with mountain ranges in the background, vineyards, rain forests, and views of the city planned out early in the morning from a hot air balloon. Starting at dawn, this tour offers an unrivaled view of the balloon drifting with the wind. You disembark and have the option to end your trip with a glass of bubbly.

A short drive from the city center will take you to vineyards and different picnic spots where you can enjoy a relaxing afternoon tasting some of the best wines and brews in the region. Mount Majura Vineyards is one of the best places to experience the finest local wines and lunch.

Like any other Australian city, Canberra also takes its coffee very seriously and prides itself on being one of the best destinations for it. There is no dearth of good cafes. Rye, Gather, Ark, and Intra are known for their coffee, while Local Press is a good modern Australian cafe.

For high tea, The Marion is a dreamy setting. There are many more dining places, such as Rebel Rebel, Inka, and Raku, in the city, as well as a couple of nice places for great hangouts and bars for tourists worldwide. So, guys, I am ready to go to Canberra this coming summer.

It was simple for me. I took this picture in March standing on Tesla Tower in Canberra. I had taken some other images too so I selected one of them and edited it in MS Paint to write the title and this card was ready!

I probably used my digital camera SonyCybershot to take this picture or maybe my Cannon DSLR but most probably the SonyCybershot.
