ACHIEVEMENT 2 @donald2710: BASIC SECURITY ON STEEM
Good day everybody, I will be talking on this crucial topic which is basic Security on steem. Safety of an online account be it social site, educative site, storage site or information site have been a major challenge due to unauthorized access of a user account. Today I will be explaining the different security keys (passwords) in steem and also throw more light on their different functions, their restrictions not excluding the safe keeping of the keys as a top priority in steem basic security.
Firstly, as a steemian, Inmade sure I retrieved all my personal security keys in steem, the keys includes;
- The master key
- Posting key
- Active key
- Owner's key
- Memo key
All these keys are the protective shield that secures a user's account and personalizes it, preventing unauthorized access or invasion of an account thereby keeping it strongly safe for the user to access anytime anywhere in any device.
I retrieved all these keys and made sure it is secured In an encrypted at both end online (icloud account) and also copied Off-line (personal diary) and kept in a safe place.
KEYS IN STEEM AND THEIR FUNCTIONS.
THE MASTER KEY
This is the most important key or password, it is the key that is used to generate other keys or passwords with no exception. The safekeeping of master key is of the topmost priority and should not be shared in with anybody or in any site.
HOW I PLAN TO KEEP MY MASTER PASSWORD.
Fully aware of the function of my master password, I will store it in a secured online copy and hard copy being offline and kept in a safe file.
POSTING KEY
This is the key that permits the user of an account to post, edit, comment, resteem, follow, vote or mute other accounts. It is limited for the purpose of curtailing damages in an account due to excess usage of the key.
ACTIVE KEY
The purpose of this key is very sensitive that's why it's the most sensitive key. The functions of this key involves in the powering up and down transactions, voting for witnesses, updating profile details and avatar, transferring funds in,within and out of steem and placing market order.
OWNER'S KEY
In the cases where an account was accessed without authorisation, Owner's key used to recover the compromised account. It is the most powerful because it can change any other key. It is used only when necessary and should be kept in a safe place suitably offline copy.
MEMO KEY
Memo key functions mainly in transfer of funds which involves in encryption and decryption of memos when transferring funds.
TRANSFERS OF STEEM TOKEN
In transferring steem token from one wallet to another, steem wallet has topnotch in organization and control of assets.
To transfer steem token from one wallet to another, the processes includes;
(1). I will Click on the wallet in your profile
(2). I will Click on that tradeable token (Steem
Dollar) to highlight the options.
(3). I will Click transfer
To transfer steem token from one wallet to another within steem platform;
The username of the sender will be on the space (From), the steem address of the receiver will be on the space (To) and the amount of the steem to be transferred on the space (amount) just as shown in the image below.
In transferring steem outside steem platform, the username of the sender is written in the column (From), the username of the receiver is then written at the column (To), then the address of the receiver which can be any wallet apart from steem wallet is now written down at the column (Memo) as shown below
