Looks interesting, doesn't it? What you see here is the so called "Klangdom", a kind of acoustic dome in Pischelsdorf in Styria (Austria.) That dome looks interesting from distance but inside there is nothing to see. But as soon as you hear your voice or the sound of your steps, you start to listen more careful. That's because the sound is different than usual. Originally that dome was a radar dome. Instead of intensifying radar waves it intensifies acoustic waves. Even if it isn't a real tourist attraction many people stop when they drive by to see this artistic creation from near.

Sieht doch interessant aus oder nicht? Was ihr hier seht, ist der sogenannte "Klangdom", eine Art Akkustikkuppel in Pischelsdorf in Steiermark (Österreich). Diese Kuppel sieht aus der Ferne recht interessant aus, doch drinnen gibts es nichts zu sehen. Hellhörig wird man aber, sobald man seine eigene Stimme oder die eigenen Schritte ganz anders wahrnimmt als sonst. Ursprünglich war diese Kuppel eine Radarkuppel, jetzt verstärkt sie anstatt der Radarwellen einfach die Schallwellen. Auch wenn es nicht unbedingt eine große Touristenattraktion ist, bleiben viele Leute beim Vorbeifahren einfach stehen, um dieses künstlerische Werk aus der Nähe zu erleben.
