Schools today ban cannabis and other “drugs” from the premises, which makes it difficult for some children who use cannabis or cbd oil etc, who have a medicinal license to do so, to help seek remedy from a variety of illness.

In some circumstances, those children have had to leave school property just to be able to take their medicine, or parents have sought to homeschool to try and provide an environment to them where they could have peaceful access to their medication.

Meanwhile, schools around the country have been giving out a cocktail of medications to children for decades now.

Various reports have frequently suggested that adolescents in the United States are being over-prescribed, that too many are relying heavily on anti-psychotic medication, and being given prescriptions even when they don't need them.

But they've been slow on recognizing any potential medicinal benefits of cannabis or recognizing the right of children or their families to speak about, support, or consume cannabis. Some parents have even had CPS intervene and take their children away after their child went to school discussing cannabis and their parents' use of it.

This assault on basic liberty has given rise to efforts that have sought to push forth a bill that would secure the rights of parents to give their own children cannabis, in the state of Washington.

Free to Medicate

Under the new legislation, parents would be given that right to administer cannabis to their children while their child was still on the school property, making it much more convenient for the child and family, reducing that unnecessary restriction of having them first have to leave before they could medicate.

Beware the fine print...

It will still ban the smoking of cannabis and also bans products that are high in THC, but for now it might mean that parents can help their children medicate with a little more convenience. If only it didn't require a group of bureaucrats, months of work, and likely tens of thousands of taxpayer dollars, to try and sort out some common sense arrangement that could help increase the comfort of children while they're learning, by widening access to a natural substance and revoking the threat of punishment.

Parents are hoping that soon the Washington governor is going to sign the changes into law, which would require at over 290 school districts in the region to permit students who qualify with a legitimate license to consume their cannabis on the school grounds, on a school bus, or at a school-sponsored event.
