More Shoppers Are Opting For Grass-Fed Beef

in #news8 years ago

For the overall beef market in the United States, which is in the billions of dollars, grass-fed beef only accounts for 1.4 percent of the total market. But the demand for grass-fed beef continues to grow around the country as more shoppers are choosing this beef a the grocery store.

In 2015 the market for regular beef went up 6.5 percent, but the market for grass-fed was boosted roughly 40 percent. This shows that the trend continues to grow as more are looking to opt for getting this kind of meat in their diet over the grain-fed beef.

There have been a number of studies looking into the characteristics of grass-fed beef compared to grain-fed and it's suggested that they collectively support the notion that grass-fed beef is healthier in that the meat is leaner, and might even have better antioxidant content, aside from other benefits.

The price of the grass-fed is going to be a bit more for the consumer, but they are showing that they aren't afraid of paying it. The grass-fed cows require more room for grazing naturally and this takes more room than feed lots and common factory farming. It is no coincidence that when the cattle is farmed in a more sustainable way, the cattle ends-up having more nutrients.

My doctor wants me on grass-fed beef as well, so that's all I buy now. It is more expensive yes (not like Wagyu of course!), but I do like it a lot. Overall I've lost 30 pounds just since January following his advice (ketogenic diet), and without much exercise to speak of.

i am familiar with that diet! it's very hard to follow or so i found for myself it was lol
thats awesome to hear

It is hard but I was such a fat-ass bordering on a heart attack I really needed to, like for years, haha. I did it partly however just from learning that it helps with depression and other "maladies" I was suffering from. Nowdays I personally cook about 90-95% of what I eat. It's totally worth it to me - I feel and look great (so people say).
Saw this article in chat btw, if you like knowing where traffic comes from. Just getting the feel for promoting there.

That's great to hear. Hopefully as more consumers demand quality food, more will be produced. And maybe, just maybe, in time things can be turned around and we can dream of a time when there are no more feedlots on dirt.

doitvoluntarily, i live in california, and we have huge feed lots on dirt and its always sad to me when drive by. I'm sad for the cattle and for us human beings.

excellent post thank you very much for congratulations data
