Classic Toys Make A Comeback This Christmas

in #toys8 years ago

Classic toys are making a comeback this year as a growing number of people are turning to purchase items such as Monopoly, Jenga and Lego for their loved ones for this holiday season.

Monopoly started selling back in the 30s, Jenga in the 80s, and Lego back in 40s, and there is growing demand for them today.

Lego, Lego, Lego...

Children have been looking forward to receiving Lego kits for their birthdays and other celebrations for decades now. Even children today are interested in playing with Lego, despite the myriad of other high-tech options available to them on the shelves.

Classic board games like Monopoly are also coming back, the recently released Cheaters edition of Monopoly reportedly saw over a 90 percent sales boost in recent weeks.

There is also a growing demand for retro favorites such as Polly Pocket, Jenga, PlayStation Classic, and Tamagotchi that many kids who grew up in the 90s no doubt remember playing with on numerous occasions.

Many customers are purchasing items that they themselves used to play with as a child and now they can pass that on to their own kids to play with. It's a way of enabling them to revisit their childhood and connect with their children.

Aside from some retro toys making a comeback for the Christmas list this year, there are also many similar toys that you can find being resold online that are going for a generous amount.

Toys from the 90s and earlier have been making a comeback for awhile now, including items like Furby, Super Soaker, and Skip-it.

Not only are toy retailers looking to cater to nostalgia by bringing back some of these classics, but you can also find individual sellers who are selling various used or new classic toys online. You might be surprised to find out what some of the old ones you grew up playing with as a child are worth nowadays.

When you induce a child's (adult too), curiosity, freedom of creativity rather than jam a finite vision or "thing" at them, then you open their own personal world of wonder and fulfillment. That is why they enjoy the box sometimes more than the gift.

Lego is the best! My son still has all of his, decades later.

i wish I had kept mine over the years, would've been a lot lol

I love the classic games, although we dont play them very often these days with everyone to busy playing digital games etc. Monopoly was one of my favorites when I was young!Upped earlier now resteemed, Merry Christmas @doitvoluntarily !💁💕✌

@doitvoluntarily I really like the idea of didactic jutes for children, today they are all interned in line play, this will be a passion and a change of habit for them
Merry Christmas dear friend

I had nice memories with Lego when I was a child. It helps you to be very creative. And I am definitely addicted to Monopoly. It is one of the best games we have. Marry Christmas :D

Well, since the toy industry lost sight of what is most important in a toy, it is no wonder that the old stuff is making a comeback.

Toy manufacturers bet all their money on merchandising the latest cartoons. But, they didn't realize that the industry was way past saturation, and that the youngsters were moving away from TV. ThemTube is where its at (was, its already moving on) and the TV just can't compete with interactive games.

So, the marketing plan was to make toys for the most popular TV shows. As TV shows became unpopular.

Further, playing with action figures is fun for the imagination; playing with cheap pieces of plastic that look like cheap TV shows... is rather limited/limiting. The fun isn't there.

Lawn darts! Now that was fun.
