Betting On Getting Rich From YouTube
One previous survey of 3,000 children who were between the ages of 8 to 12 years old, from the United States, found that most of them want to become a famous YouTube star as their potential career.
Other surveys have found similar results in the United States and elsewhere, that children overwhelmingly today just want to be famous on social media rather than pursue another career path.
But making it on YouTube is difficult to say the least.
Some of the more popular YouTube accounts now admit that they've been earning more from selling merchandise through their channels, or from memberships, than from simply video views alone.
Even if you are successful, seeing millions of views for your content every month, you still not might be able to make much money from it.
A few content creators have recently shared how much they make from a video that gets 100k views, 1 million views, and 4 million views.
from a video with 100k views it's between $500 to $1000
a video with 1 million views+ has an average payout of $2,000 but can range up to $10,000.
YouTube has continued to add hundreds of hours of new content every minute, but it's the largest channels that are still reportedly growing the most and receiving the most views.
For example, it's estimated that the top 3 percent of channels are getting at least 90 percent of all the views on the platform.
Looking at the finished product alone can easily cause some to think it's easy to do or get there, but most haven't seen or know about what those creators did before that. They don't see the work and struggle that went into creating the content or doing the work up until that point, they might have made years of sacrifice. If it's something that someone is truly passionate about, there's nothing stopping them, but on the surface it might be too easy to overestimate the chance that someone might see fame and wealth thanks to YouTube views only.

I was thinking what platform is better for making money now: YouTube or Instagram. It seems the second is easier and faster, though it's not simple on both of them. Unfortunately, Steemit now is not considered to be a platform for earning money. At least for simple minnows and small dolphins.
Most succesful creators spend 16 hours working 7 days a week until they can hire some help and even then it only drops to like 5 days a week 12 - 16 hours.
Im all for encouraging and helping my kids if thats what they want. If nothing else they learn how to speak better and communicate more clearly, edit videos, etc.
As automation takes over and technology gets cheaper I think were going to see jobs where people work for themselves more and more.
I am not surprised at all to read that kids see YouTube as the new Hollywood, except that they think it is way easier and faster than becoming a famous actor. To me, Youtube was never an option, although I am a content creator with focus on Videos. The reason for that was their payment system: They hand out cheques EXCLUSIVELY. At least that is what I heard. That might be a thing in the USA but in most other countries this form of payment is mostly unknown. I remember back in Germany, how weird and difficult it was to get money from the bank that way. And that was Germany. I am living now in Costa Rica and here it is IMPOSSIBLE to pay out a cheque. No kidding.
But who cares, YT is the worst, the same shit as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and so on. I have used YT longer than any of the other social media types, up until today. It is convenient and has tons of good content. The problem is, that we don't find the good content anymore. Five years ago, it was a treasure chest of knowledge, thanks to the suggested videos. Nowadays it doesn't show anything anymore and suggested videos are never what I am looking for. To me it is clear, that I am now withdrawing myself gradually from this last behemoth of main stream propaganda.

What I think is strange is kids of that age thinking about future careers, when I was that age my problem and only thoughts were about getting permission to stay out after six.
