Armed Cops In Oregon Find A Trapped Roomba

in #funny6 years ago

In a surprise twist, police in Oregon thought that they were recently responding to a burglary call, where they expected to find a trapped suspect in the bathroom, instead they found a Roomba vacuum.

The caller thought someone was locked in the bathroom, because she could see shadows under the door. Police surrounded the house, even a canine officer was called, the burglary suspect was told multiple times that they needed to exit the bathroom but they didn't respond. Police also heard rustling noises coming from the bathroom despite the commands that they were giving, they noted that the rustling became more frequent despite being told to exit.

Eventually, police made their way into the bathroom, guns ready, and found a vacuum cleaner. Luckily it didn't waste too much police time as the entire incident, according to the sheriff's office, lasted from around 1:48pm to 2:13pm.

You never know what you might get when you call an emergency line, you could get hung up on, you could end up getting arrested yourself, you could get help to respond but they might not even be able to find you, or you could lead authorities to a vacuum cleaner that's trapped in the bathroom.

The average response time for police is often between 5-10 minutes or longer, depending on where you live, but in this case the police were able to respond quickly and deescalate the situation within minutes.

Some other humorous reasons that people have mistakenly called for help? to report someone cheering on their son at a soccer game, to report someone entering their own apartment, to complain that a fast food restaurant wasn't open, to report a lost jacket, ask if clocks should be moved back, and to ask for help with trying to turn off car lights.

Hahaha I guess it would be a relief to find it was not a burglar but could you imagine the embarrassment? Around here, they would probably be fined or something for being paranoid and wasting the time of the authorities.

She would have had to shut the door on the vacuum in the first place too. Some people.

I'm glad they didn't blow away the Roomba. Could have ended badly for the little robot. Classic stuff, we humans do on a daily basis. That's why I only have a broom and dust pan...

lol me too glad it survived and nobody else hurt

You'd think the owner recognize the sound of the iRobot.
Or maybe it's a new owner.

lol! it's the stuff of true horror films
