40+ Year Drug War: Business Still Booming

in #drugwar5 years ago

Despite the more than 40 years that the state has been hunting down and trying to punish drug dealers, drug users, drug producers etc, the drug trade today is a highly lucrative business and still booming despite the prohibition efforts.

Previous research has suggested that the war on drugs might be doing more to help drug traffickers than harm them, in that their prohibition efforts have been found to benefit traffickers by helping them conquer more land in certain areas.

It hasn't reduced addiction or drug use, the availability of drugs in any in, in fact drugs like coaine are much cheaper today than they were a few decades ago.

The cost that has been put on society to fund this war however has been highly detrimental, so many innocent lives have been lost because of the war on drugs. It's fueled an incredible deterioration of individual liberty and afforded the state with the power to police the consumption habits of millions and inflict violence when their is no crime, no violent parties that pose any threat.

It has filled prisons with non-violent "offenders" and ruined millions of lives, not just for the individuals that have been caught up in the drug war directly with their actions, but for their families too that have also had to suffer the consequences for those non-violent crimes.

Even today, it's reported that there has been an explosion in the number of boats that are trafficking cocaine and methamphetamines across Latin America.

The tyrannical approach of trying to tell people what they should and shouldn't be doing with their bodies hasn't worked for almost 50 years with regard to the drug war, it has cost the people trillions of dollars in the meantime and given rise to wildly corrupt legislation like civil asset forfeiture and the growing prevalence of no-knock raids.

The state only proceeds with that war on drugs, despite the evidence of its repeated failures, because it is about control, money, and power and not about any sort of community or individual safety.

that's the front - war on drugs - really it's cornering the market on drugs by the el-lites - back to the Russell trading company - smuggling heroine through Skull and Bones...

might just uncover some CIA action and end up "killing yourself"

The Mexican/central American gang war would end over night if drugs were legalized. That would also reduce the number of illegal migrants who are fleeing violence.

the organization that suppresses us on a daily basis in thousands of ways, the state, 😂want us to be fearful of fellow victims of their abuse, watch out for fellow human beings who might be coming from competing tax farms.. the trench warfare🙈.
