The chase - Part 1 (Short story + commentary)

The bullet passed by his head so close his right ear started ringing. Quinn was running for his life while making his way through the dense forest with night time approaching fast. What had started of as flipping off a random stranger on the road, after the individual had overtaken him in a dangeorus manuvoer, ended up in a man hunt and he was the prey.

He had no idea who that man was but it didn't matter. The most important thing was getting out of this mess alive. But how? He was unarmed.

He ran as quick as he could in a straight line with his heart pounding like a drum and his breath shallow and fast. Five minutes in a dear suddenly appeared in front of him which stopped him in his tracks and almost gave him a heart attack. He had thought it was the man chasing him. Luckily it wasn't and he decided to turn left and continue in that direction.

At that point the night was approaching fast and he basically couldn't see anything. He was reliant only on his instinct. Little did he know he was running right into a downhill slope. He lost his step, fell and rolled down the hill violently and lost consciousness.

He opened his eyes and saw nothing but pitch black.

Commentary

In my profile it says I occasionally write stories. However I haven't written in quite a while. I've started a scifi novel (4 chapters so far) but I haven't continued. The problem I have is that I can come up with good plots to a story or a novel but I have problems continuing and finishing a story.

"The chase" Part 1 I just wrote is another example. I left it at to be continued because I don't know in which direction to take it.

Does anybody have the same problem? You can come up with a good plot but don't know how to execute it.

I don't know what the point of this commentary was. I guess I'm just being honest.
