DO WE KNOW HOW TO APPRECIATE THE MOMENT?

The fact is that we live a fast live, the age in which most of things are taken for granted and we do not know how to appreciate the moments. Then we wonder how much time has passed and we wonder when we realize that 2014 was in fact four years ago.

We rarely remember moments, and even less appreciate them when they are here. We are not aware of half the things that surround us, and even less of what is happening around us. We just do not observe.

I recently came back from Lisbon where I learned through two situations that we should appreciate and enjoy every moment we experience because we will never again experience it again. He remains in the time that it happened.

Unknown girl in the airport

It was morning, we were waiting for boarding the plane at the boarding gate. Thousands of people, different nations, different faces. She was sitting on the bench with her boyfriend, and she looked beautiful. And she was looking at me and laughing, just when her boyfriend didn't look. I accepted the game and returned the same way, just when the guy does not look, we were underground because she wanted it like that.

And it lasts for a while, we talk with our eyes and we spread our lips to the side to send a message. The boy does not realize anything and how could he, we have managed to hide in a moment in time, the moment at which time is not a variable, but just the gaze and the smile.

And it lasts longer, we enjoy it. Then, a new moment comes in which we have to go into the plane, a crowd of people cover her eyes, her face, and we no longer see each other.

Just like that.

I knew that moment could not be back. I knew it was time to go and didn't complain about the past that disappeared, without notice and without too much pain, a painless cut of time.

I appreciated it. I enjoyed it. I did not even think about when it will end and whether it would end, time did not exist. When she disappeared, I was not sorry, I was not sad. It was long enough that I did not know how long it lasted.

I enjoyed the moment.

People from the history

Lisbon is full of history, beautiful history. Rulers, kings, humble life and dissipation. What's left of it today? Ruins that are constantly being beautified to attract as many tourists, most of whom will never live with such a life, can only look at what it used to be.

What happens after we leave?

If we have created something, it will remain behind us. Maybe a year, maybe five, maybe fifty years. Others will be able to recall our creativity, our works, our words, our moves and decisions that have directed our story in a certain direction.

And where are we in the whole story? Were we just going from point A to point B for a lifetime without having noticed anything? Without figuring out what was going on and how did we react to it? Will we only remain a ruinous monument of ourselves, exhausted from the view, photography and waiting?

The moment

Maybe it's time to start enjoying the moment. It's always time, as long as we're alive, when it's gone, then it's a bit late for something like that. So let's have it since now every time something happens to us, look at it from the third person view and ask why this is happening, whether it will ever be repeated in exactly that form and telling yourself whether it means anything to you.

Going out with friends, walking around the city, drinking tea, weightlifting, having dinner with your partner, making dinner, reading a book, traveling by train, listening to your own steps in the silence of the street when you come home late at night, there are so many things to enjoy.

Recognize the moment.

Grab him.

Observe.
