Do we known what a bat is? Is it a Bird or an animal? It is like a Bird. it has wings like a Bird. it flies like a Bird.
But the bat I not a Bird. it does not lay eggs like a Bird. The wing and body of a bird are covered with feathers. The bat has no feathers. Its body is covered with hair instead. The bat is an animal with four legs that can fly. The wings of a bat are really its front legs. There are like arms with very long fingers. There are pieces of skin between these fingers. There make the bat's wings.

Do we known how bat live? There usually live together in large numbers. They like living in caves and other dark place. They nearly always sleep in during the day. They rarely leave their homes except at night. They sleep in a rather strange way . They hang upside down by their feet. We can see how they do this in the picture.

When the sun goes down, the bats leave their home and fly about in search of food.

They can fly fast and very skilfully. Thy almost never bump into anything while thy are flying in the dark. Bats are useful to us because they eat mosquitoes and other insects that are harmful.
