But I stumped you! All the guesses were for places in British Columbia, but this is NOT British Columbia or the Rocky Mountains. Remember, I've been to a few places in the world and just came back from a trip to all 10 Canadian provinces and 2 of the territories.
In fact, here's a hint: this is in Canada, but is not in British Columbia or Alberta.
I want to give the 1 SBD prize away this week, so I'm giving you all a second chance and one more day to guess (till Saturday at 6pm EST).
In this "Lightning Round" I will respond to the guesses and let you know if you're correct or not, so lets see if we can narrow it down.
If anyone gets close, I'll give them the prize. If you already guessed on the last post, feel free to try once more!
BINGO! That's it exactly! Yes! This is just above Virginia Falls in Nahanni National Park, Northwest Territories, Canada, Earth. It's the only part of Nahanni we were able to access. I flew in on a float plane and only had an hour on the ground in the park. Good work on figuring out the exact location! :)
I don't know either, but it sure is beautiful! Thanks for sharing your great photos! Take a look at mine when you have a moment. Thanks @journeyfreedom
I have no idea where it is as I'm on the other side of the planet... however it's absolutely beautiful!! Looks like the kind of place I'd like to get lost in!
gorgeous shot by the way :) and I really like exploring around on Google maps! (thanks to Photogames!) the Nahanni National Park looks amazing, even if it's not the correct location... crazy landscapes and there are moose and elk! :D
You're right, though, it IS the South Nahanni River, just above Virginia Falls! Well done! Your guess isn't the most specific, but I think the others based their guesses off of yours, so I'm definitely giving you a prize as well! Can I ask how you found it?
Yukon River guess by @alevaskye and your hint on it, took me to the Northwest Territories. I first checked the images for Kluane National Park and its rivers, then for Nahanni... I saw images of the flat rocks before the waterfall but didn't think of figuring out the name of the waterfall and describe it from there :) Blaming the images of the wildlife for distracting me!
It looks amazing there, I am sorry that you weren't able to stay longer but also glad that you left before a grizzly bear showed up :D
Well done! That's just the sort of investigative work that we hope to inspire with these contests!
Thanks for your commiserations! It was the last float plane trip of the year and the weather almost canceled it, so I was incredibly lucky to get to this part at all! :)
Oh, it definitely sounds that it was more lucky than the way around then! :D
As a participant feedback :p I think the Where is it Wednesdays are quite inspirational, and, advancing! I didn't know anything about the Nahanni National Park or the Kluane until this morning, for instance, and now I have locations and a few images in mind. It's great, and thank you for that ^^
Gros Morne? :D
Did I tell you, it is a beautiful photo! :D wherever it may be! :)
Thank you! ;) It's not Gros Morne, but that's another good guess! :)
Mmm I guess it’s Sluice Box Rapids above Virginia Falls, Nahanni National Park, Northwest Territories

Hmmm....How about the Yukon River?
No.....but you're the closest so far!
I'll guess Nova Scotia.
Ah...that's not correct, it's not Nova Scotia, but that's a good guess because it could be, Nova Scotia has some landscapes like this.
Google failed me. :P
lol, well, here's another hint for anyone still guessing (I'm starting to despair that anyone will get it right)...not a lot of people go here.
I think I know where it is..
Did you know it was above Virginia Falls in Nahanni? :)
Nope. :P But I'm glad someone did! :)
Were you thinking Kluane?
Whoa, how did you know that?? Yes, I was!
only one guess?
For now..
until when..? I know where it is! :D
For now..
Mmm is that Moraine Lake, Banff National Park?

lol at the gif! But sorry, no, this is not in British Columbia or the Rockies. :)
Boo :((
I actually know pretty close to nothing about Canada, but it was worth a shot :D
It absolutely is worth a shot! :)
Cranberry Rapids on the Liard River
Nope, that's still B.C., but you're warmer (literally, haha, because that's not far from the Liard Hot Springs!
oh man, but everything in canada looks the same!
Yes, but if this was easy there would be no glory! ;)
I have no idea where it is as I'm on the other side of the planet... however it's absolutely beautiful!! Looks like the kind of place I'd like to get lost in!
Thank you! Don't be afraid to guess! :)
hmm . . . The Nahanni River in the Northwest Territories?

Well, thank you for playing and for your feedback, we love to hear that!!! :D
Is it the river that runs through Denali State park?
No, but you're not far off with the latitude!
