Meandering

in #freewrite8 years ago

I've heard that expression so often: "Stranded on the sofa like a whale" that I just figured it was nonsense. Until I saw it with mine own eyes.
I was deep in a submersible , doing research on the mating rituals of the lesser known, pickle slug. It's a homely looking foot- long, snot looking, slightly mobile creature. The important thing is that it can reproduce the sounds of whales underwater with a Freddie Mercury tone. Fascinating and it will be of use on the next mission to Mars - for obvious reasons.
The pickle slugs were singing in harmony and I looked out my submersible window and what did I see, but a half-dozen whales sitting on the rock formation over a bed of kelp they'd placed there for comfort. They were all watching the pickle slugs and chowing down on large containers of plankton.
I stared for a few moments, then thought of taking a picture. When I put my camera to the window, a large bubble came out of the ass of the largest whale. (I learned later that some whales have an allergy to certain types of popcorn plankton) Then other whales immediately dispersed with their flippers to their snouts. My craft was hit with a small shock and shook.
When I looked back down at the slugs and put my headphones back on, I would have sworn they were laughing. Hey, everybody loves a good fart joke.
