How to Write a Successful Blog - Part 3

Since June, when I joined Steemit, I've kept notes about blogging. I opened a file on Word and entered anything I found helpful or that I wanted to remember. Now, it's become redundant as I know exactly what it says without looking. This is my 1957th post so that's not surprising.

I thought I'd share some of the notes in case they help newbies. So here goes:

• Are You Using Proper Grammar and Spelling, and is Your Content Coherent?

Your blog should create a good impression if readers are to enjoy it and return. A page with poor spelling, grammar or typos is much less likely to be seen as worth reading than one displaying excellent literacy skills.

Some questions to ask yourself include:

• Is my content factually correct?

• Is the content organized in a logical way?

• Is my grammar and spelling correct?

• Is all my language in accordance with standard usage

• Are my sentences fluent?

• Are You Using Proper Page and Text Formatting?

High-quality content is aesthetically attractive, easy to read, and suitable for scanning and skimming (which is how the majority of your readers will behave). Try to use the formatting available to you.

You could include:

• bolds and italics

• short sentences and paragraphs

• bullet points and numbered lists

• appropriate use of headers and sub-headers to break up long chunks of text.

There are a couple more suggestions from my notes to conclude this series of articles. I hope they are helpful to Newbies.
