Herbs are a very useful culinary aid. They are easy to grow in pots outdoors in summer and indoors all year round. They look fresh and smell nice too.
In this article I would like to talk about chives.

Chives grow like mad seeding themselves if you let them flower. They don't mind cold weather but will grow happily indoors as well.
They are aromatic and smell like mild onions.

Chives contain vitamins K and A. They provide a good source of fiber and folic acid so are useful to be eaten during pregnancy.
Chives also contain plenty of calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, copper, and manganese. Some people eat chives for high blood pressure.
Try this chive recipe by The Old Farmer's Store. It's that is quick and easy to make:
Chive Mashed Potato

Serves 6 - 8
8 large potatoes
1/2 cup hot milk
4 tablespoons butter
4 tablespoons finely chopped fresh chives
Salt and pepper to taste
Peel and quarter potatoes.
Boil in water to cover until tender.
Drain, return to pan.
Add hot milk, butter, chives, and salt and pepper to taste.
Mash thoroughly and whip lightly with a fork.
This is a delicious accompaniment to your meal.
