How I Did 10K My First Month On Amazon And Was Then Placed On A Velocity Review For My Efforts

in #entrepreneur7 years ago (edited)

I am sharing this story so hopefully, nobody will have to go through what I did. Better to start out slow and grow into your account then explode the doors off like I did. I was an experienced eBayer and had also sold on Etsy for years. So I had a ton of listing experience and I was also pretty fast at new listings. I was linked to a drop shipping company and basically, they said to try to list as many items as you can and you will start making money right away. I listed about 1000 items my first month. It was close to Christmas and the sales starting rolling in. I was on top of the world, I was truly making great money and shipping was running smoothly and items were being delivered and BAM!!! My account was placed on what AMAZON calls a Velocity Review. Basically, they held all my money and said your funds will be dispersed once customers had received their items. So 2 weeks before Christmas they were holding my 8K ransom and it was supposed to be released on December 15th in which I was going to celebrate and buy some family and friends gifts. Needless to say, Amazon ruined my Christmas because I exceeded their expectations and growth limits. It took two more pay cycles to receive my funds, I was devastated too say the least. So grow slowly and consistent but not too fast. Best to check to see what the limits of sales are so you never have to go down this road. If this helps a few people, than I have done a great deed. :)

Just out of curiosity what are you selling on Amazon?

Mostly home furnishings and some fitness items. looking at trying the FBA programming, hoping that will help.

amazon has also ruined me several times with his stupid policies

Yeah, they have messed with a lot of people's lives. The corporate giant shows no mercy.
I tell everyone to do FBA and you won't have as many headaches.

Check out SwiftDemand
https://www.swiftdemand.com/?referred_by=croftj0827

It is a decentralized online store that you can sell for swift demand. There are people selling on there now and you are able to claim 100 swift demand coins a day for free. They are just starting out, but sounds like something that might be able to fuel your future with your experience!
Great Post, thanks for the warning.

Hi,
I will check it out for sure. I'm done with Amazon and now selling on eBay. A little less hassle but I guess they all have their pro's and con's.

That sounds like amazon indeed... but better making sales than no sales ;)

Yeah it was a hard lesson to learn.

Wow buddy. I'm sorry to hear that. But thank you for sharing with others. I hope that sort of thing is under control. Can you change your settings? Again, much respect for the resale game. I mentioned my facebook friend. But I'm reminded of another friend who used to troll craigslist for free or super cheap items, then he would fix em up, or repackage them and sell them again on craigslist. He had a car which makes that sort of thing easier. Estate sales and garage sales are awesome too. Again, kinda need a car to run that racket. But all the best!

Will you write a little more about how you got into selling online? What products you sell, how you sourced them, the drop shipping company you used? I am really interested. Thanks!

Hi,
this link will help you as well. I can try to tell you more about the Amazon journey next post.
