Short Term - Definitely. No question. I think that with the next 10-20 years there will be some SERIOUS global upheaval that we've never dealt with before.
Long Term - No. After all the upheaval that we are bound to confront soon, I honestly think that we will come out of all of that a much better civilization.
I think ultimately that the nationalistic AI that will surface will be the catalyzing moment. I think we need that reality to come true first, and then humanity will rebel, lots of destruction, but afterwards we will come out on top. Either that or the world is over, soooo i definitely need to be positive lol
Got to say, ultimately I prefer a nihilistic approach. That is, at the end of the day, nothing really matters. What will be, will be. (It sure helps me sleep at night having a spotless conscience.)
Once upon a time there was no life, then there was. You can say the same for the human species. Chances are, there will come a day once more when again, there will be no humans and another day when there will be no life whatsoever.
Life is to be lived, cherished even, but there is no ethical imperative that it should go on and on. We're lucky, we're alive. But we're just a biological process taking place on the crust of one of our solar system's planets. We may be special but if there is no real point to life (and there's a damned good chance that there isn't) then once it's over, that will be that. And once we accept this, we can live out what time we have left to the max.
Just try to stay alive. And try to enjoy the challenges.
