Social Studies-Homework On Culture

It was a wonderful class session with @udyliouz on the topic culture. Like we all know from our little that culture is the way of life of people in a given society, that meaning is still applicable in today's life where people and groups are known for the set of belief, religion, dressing and the way of communication.
I will love to answer some of the take home tasks;

Culture is a whole way of life of people, group and community acting the same through thier mode of communication, dressing, beliefs, ceremonies and work of arts. At the tower of Babel everything about speech changed till now people of different society speak differently, some speak English, ibibio or Tiv which can also be learnt and change. In Nigeria we have diverse ethnic groups with different culture, they act and do things differently from their mode of dressing to speech passed.

❤️ Language:
Language is the most preferred component of culture, because without communication humans can't exist in accordance and oneness. So language of a particular society makes them unique and known just like Calabar known for thier unique efik language, to say a British won't understand that unless he or she is a linguist . So language is a unique component of culture.

❤️Norms:
Norms here are the way people in a given culture act and respond to things in their environment. Here in my community we believe that when there's sun and rain at the same time, somewhere a lion is born. Some set of beliefs defines a society. Before Christianity was brought into Africa 90% believed in traditional incantations, talking to gods and oracles, that alone defined us.

❤️ Artifacts and values:
These are sets of material and non material things people value, somewhere in Nigeria most people give much value to sculptures, rivers and streams pledging homage to them.

❤️ Symbols:
Countries and states have different symbols and signs there are known for, symbols like monuments and sculptures are generally different from each other.

❤️Culture can be learned: culture can be acquired from an alien coming to stay in a given society. Just like Christianity, we knew about it and practice it slowly till it was widely spread around the country.

❤️ Culture is dynamic: before colonization, In Nigeria twins were killed for reasons known to them but with the advent of colonization the killing of twins was stopped by Mary slessor. So culture can be changed.

❤️ Culture is shared: the way if doing things can be shared among other ethnic group and society. Most of the ibibios wear fulanis attire to important events because of the love for thier style of fashion.

❤️ Culture is created: just like ideas and perspectives, culture is created by people maybe as a result of love, happiness, peace and pain.

Material culture refers to the seen objects and items that are used to people's culture. Some of the material culture are homes, churches, shrine, mosques, markets and other tangibles objects.

Material culture is the abstract and unseen ideas and beliefs that makes up culture. Non material culture are the norms, language, ideas, traditions, values and morals about culture.
