Good day everyone, I am so glad to make a content about poverty and how it can be coped with different strategies. Much thanks to @udyliciouz for bringing up this wonderful contest topic which is a major problem here in my country Nigeria.

What is poverty

Poverty is a state of being unable to afford your personal and family needs. Poverty is when an individual lack resources to cater for his immediate and personal needs which could be shelter, food and clothing. Poverty is a major problem affecting the Nigerian citizens at large, reducing the standard of living of many. Due to some corrupt practices and act the less privileged seems to be written off during provision of amenities and jobs.

List and explain 5 causes of ppoverty

There are so many causes of poverty in the world at large which are:

❣️Unavailability of good jobs

❣️Low investment in the educational sector by the Government

❣️Addiction

❣️ insufficient infrastructure for the citizens

❣️ Inequality in the state

Unavailability of good jobs

Here in my country Nigeria we have a lot of graduates leaving school everyday while seeking for white collar jobs. Here we are facing inflation in the job sector, where the job seekers are more than the jobs available. That alone will reduce the rate of salary if there are employed into the company or firm.

While waiting for school resumption during the strike, I was employed into a ceramics warehouse working like a baboon and earning as a monkey. The pay was so unbearable to even solve my personal needs but I endured because I had no choice than to manage. So the Government should really look at the job availability area, making available jobs that can really increase the individual standard of living.

Low investment in the educational sector by the Government

After voting in a Government with a future promising manifesto, it turns to be that the Government are not working towards what they promised. The rural areas are suffering from poor educational facilities, the libraries and laboratory empty which affects the student educational life. Mostly the teachers don't come to classes saying thier pay is less than the work they do, it really affects the children and the youths in the society making them live waywardly.
The Government should really focus on the educational sector because we are the leaders of tomorrow who will also rule them.

Addiction

Addiction affects an individual bringing him or her from the top to bottom. A drug addict can't plan for his future, spending much on hard drugs instead of his or her future. If drugs users can really keep count on the expenses they make everyday on drugs, I bet it can be a turnaround for them.
Going into gambling is another negative addiction that can make a man useless and wayward. I know of a man that gambles with his salary taking nothing home and turns out to be a beggar when he gets drained. So such addiction should be written off because it also cause poverty in our country at large

Insufficient infrastructure for the citizens

The Society at large are suffering from insufficient social amenities, like good road, good water source, good communication link, poor electricity and poor medical health centres. Poverty can be as a result of those problems mentioned, due to bad road the convey of certain goods like the perishable ones got spoilt before reaching the consumer thereby leading to a greater loss for the producer.

Inequality in the state

Inequality pertaining to the share of allocation between the different tiers of government can affect the standard of living for those at the grassroots level. Most of the centralised states don't share allocation to reach the people at the grassroots level leaving them to live a poor life. So allocation should be shared to reach the minorities at the local areas.

Affecting the youths who are ready to acquire knowledge

Poverty affects the youth urge to be a better citizen in the society, so many of them drop out from school because of tuition fees and the unavailability of equipped Government school.

Health issues

Mostly the poor ones leaving in the rural areas are suffering greatly from different ailments because of contaminated food and water, living a poor hygiene life because of insufficient finance to cater. Health issues like kwashiorkor, diarrhoea and other communicable diseases seems to be rampant in such locality.

Homeless

Poverty can be so miserable that to cover a roof over your head seems hard. So many people are living on the streets, bridges and even tents mainly in the bush area.

Death

So many people commits suicide because of being tired to live poor. I won't say is the best option but poor life can hits so hard that you will think your existence prove nothing.

Increase in crime

Poverty can increase the rate of crime in the Society pushing most of the youths into fraudulent activities like : prostitution, cybercrime, thuggery and cultism.

Low standard of living and self esteem

Poverty can reduce an individual self esteem making him or her live a low life in the society depending mostly on people.

What can you personally do to elevate poverty

There are so many ways to elevate poverty but I think being self employed is the best way to elevate poverty in the society. Personally into photography as a skill which I use to make income which help me cater for my personal and school needs, so being self employed is the best way to eradicate poverty.
