Do People Like Using Blank Greeting Cards?
I remember back in the late 90's walking into a Hallmark Card shop and asking the girl that worked there if they had any cards that were blank, I mean it might have an outward picture, but no words.
You see, I wanted to write my own words and not write around some other persons words that was taking up a lot of space.
OK, that reminds me of when I was even younger then that, like in high school in the mid 70's. One of my sisters wanted to give a gift to some guy, but didn't have much money. She was asking me what to give this guy.
Well, I told her to give him a poem, that she wrote herself. I told that sister of mine that I would like it that someone wrote me a poem by her own hand.
She didn't like that idea, cause that meant that she would have to buckle down and actually write something.
I would say to myself, people can't just write something on a blank card telling their feelings? Well, I guess that is true, cause I remember someone else telling me of having no money to buy a gift and asked me what gift to give.
I would get the same answer when I said to write a poem, then he or she told me of not being able to write something like that. Well, nobody said it would be easy.
Well, let's get back to the card shop in the late 90's. The girl at the card shop showed me a little section of cards that had an outward picture, but blank inside.
That is exactly what I wanted. I chose one and to my surprise, it cost something like $3.99. You think, if you would write your own words they would give you a discount.
Well, I did buy it, cause I didn't know anywhere else to buy a blank card. I know a whole lot of places to buy a blank card now days for just a dollar, but then it was a different story.
Yes, I wrote in this card and I took up all of the space. Did she like it? Yes, she did. Did I marry her? No, she married another guy, but at least I wrote something that she liked at the time.
Now days I only buy blank cards. If it is for example a nephew's birthday, I just write my own birthday greeting. Whatever the occasion you can write in your own greeting to customize a blank greeting card.
Writing in a blank greeting card might not cost you much money, but it may cost you some of your mental energy.
