Unprecedented flooding currently happening in Trinidad and recent speech from Prime Minister ROOSEVELT SKERRIT of Dominica highlighting challenges...."Environmental awareness series"

in #environment7 years ago

Disclaimer: I am not pumping any globalist agenda on "Climate Change or Global Warming", just sharing what is currently happening here in the Caribbean and trying to find possible causes and solution while bringing "awareness" that our environment is indeed changing.

These series of pictures shows the unprecedented level of flooding currently happening in Trinidad. As I said before, a lot of these challenges are shared by many Caribbean islands. People often forget that tropical storms/ system ripped serious damages and these weather pattern build up over night. Rising sea levels isn't helping the problem as traditional run off area are now new territory claim by the sea. I was speaking with several locals who mention that the severity of these flooding started back in 2013 but this year breaks all records. One of the residents also mentions that whenever the tide is high no one is safe as the water from the river backs up over flowing its banks.

These photos only capture a few areas mainly the Mayaro area but entire villages remain closed off. Sadly enough Trinidad and Tobago has been one of the silver lining for many of these islands offering assistance to several of the islands impacted this hurricane season, now the island finds itself under significant strain trying to provide relief for its own citizens.

As I said earlier, I am not trying to pump any globalist agenda but storms are still lining up to rip havoc on many of these islands that lay in its path. I honestly can't say whether these weather patterns or rising sea level are a result of man-made action or a natural phenomena but I have great difficulties with people who continue to troll that "Climate Change" is a hoax or conspiracy set up by globalist. Its not just the frequency of these category 3, 4 and 5 hurricanes but storms and bizarre weather patterns are alarming. The average daily temperature is touching 35 to 37 degree Celsius when we traditional enjoyed 28 to 31 degree Celsius.

Sadly enough, everything seem to be about profit, these small island governments have to turn to the same international community and borrow loans at 12 and 15% interest to deal with a problem they did not contribute to or have no control over. Here is a recent speech given by Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit of Dominica at the United Nations

Once again, this post is about environment "awareness" things are changing, people lives are being impacted, it is not a hoax and while the globalist may indeed seize on the opportunity to impose their carbon tax we must not ignore whats obvious or dismiss those that are currently fighting the battle.

As a form of respect to those battling these changes I would appreciate thoughtful comments and if you gonna call it a hoax or conspiracy, save the troll for another day

this is so serious...

Yep...pictures actually make it look rather good

hmmm, may God protect us all...What is the world really turning into.

Signs of the time

Cant agree more to this. A lot of people claim the absence of el nino (or was is la nina) is the main reason why so much stuff is happening this year. But honestly, this happens every so much years, and not every so much years are there so many dramatic natural disasters due to weather.
I think also looking at nature, for instance the increase of types of seaweed indicate that definitely something is going on.

Interesting enough the seaweed phenomena started becoming alarming all the back in 2012, we have so many changes happening but very little research is actually been done, and even when its done, you have to really search to get the data, I hope we can at least priority more research and publish those data just any news, there is alot we can learn

Lots of flooding in Florida after Irma. I think the polar icecaps are melting faster causing more water and less ice in the world leading to more floods

No one really knows

I hope everyone is safe in your country. May god we with you all ( if you believe in god).

Not my country but neighboring Caribbean island

This is really serious.

This is such a sad state. I pray to God for safety of the people in the region and even for the safety of the animals. Government should have better measures for protection of people. I wish they really do something more substantial for the lives and safety of people and yes people equally should be environmental conscious else generations down the line will have a very sorry state
