Fallen Architecture

Hi, here is my entry for today's architecturalphotography contest sponsored by @juliank

This photo was taken of the West Pier in Brighton,
formally a pleasure pier that was built back in the 1860s.
After finally closing its doors in 1975 it subsequently fell into disrepair.
Over the years the pier gradually collapsed into the sea and
after two fires in March and May 2003 left little of the original structure the
English Heritage declared it to be beyond repair.
