Split

** Kevin, a man of 23 personalities, kidnaps 3 young girls and keeps them in a cellar, one of those 3 girls is special for him. Kevin likes to talk to a psychologist, who tells him all his personalities. As one of their personalities prevails over the rest, the lives of the girls and Kevin's own are increasingly in danger.

The awakening of the beast_

Three girls, Claire, Marcia and Casey, are kidnapped by ** Dennis **, one of twenty-three personalities present in the mind of Kevin Wendell Crumb, a victim of abuse who was diagnosed with a dissociative identity disorder.

Kevin's psychologist, Dr. Karen Fletcher, receives an email sent by Kevin's protective personality, "Barry," who requests to see her. Kevin has been in treatment for the past few years, so apparently he is totally stable.

In Kevin's mind, each of his personalities sits in different chairs inside a room waiting for his turn "in the light" while being controlled by "Barry". Two personalities, "Dennis" and "Patricia", stay out of the light, *** because both have violent tendencies and obsessive-compulsive disorder ***; In the case of Dennis, it's also because he likes to see naked girls. Dr. Fletcher, through her studies, came to the conclusion that people like Kevin can overcome their disabilities by changing to different personalities. Later, in an attempt to explain his new personality, Kevin reminds him of a blind girl with dual personality disorder who could see when he became another personality. The doctor attends, through his computer, to a medical conference and tries to convince the specialists of his hypothesis, that is, of what could be a solution for all disabilities.

Meanwhile, at Kevin's house, Claire and Marcia conspire to attack "Dennis", but Casey dissuaded her, since she seems to have previous experience with the abuse and wants to wait for a better opportunity. The girls notice that Kevin gets angry when "Patricia", who when in the light, makes Kevin dress like a girl, assures them that "Dennis" is forbidden to touch them because they have a greater purpose. Casey seeks friendship with "Hedwig," a personality who pretends to be a nine-year-old boy, whom Casey astutely "confesses" will also be sacrificed to "The Beast," apparently the twenty-fourth personality, and accidentally reveals that Keep has recently beefed up to keep them inside. Casey and Marcia block the door while Claire tries to crawl through the fresh plaster, but "

"Dennis" poses as "Barry" and attends an appointment with Dr. Fletcher, where he denies having an emergency, but Dr. Fletcher observes discrepancies in his behavior and quickly realizes that "Dennis" and "Patricia "They have supplanted" Barry "as the dominant personality, and discuss the possibility that" The Beast "is real. Casey and Marcia later received food from "Patricia", which takes them to the kitchen. Seeing the opportunity to escape, Marcia hits "Patricia" with a chair and flees, but is captured and placed in a different cell. Casey continues posing as a friend of "Hedwig", who mentioned that she had a window in her room.
"Dennis" visits Dr. Fletcher once again, and they talk about Kevin's father, who left him on a train when he was little. To the other personalities this makes them believe that "The Beast" is hidden inside the wagon of a train. The personalities began to demonstrate to help Kevin to face the abuses to which he was subjected by his mother, who suffered from obsessive-compulsive disorder. Upon arriving at Casey's room, "Hedwig" takes Casey to his bedroom, but Casey is disappointed to learn that the window was just a few sheets of paper with drawings of it open or closed. He then takes a walkie-talkie, discovers that it works and starts asking for help from an unknown voice, a person who thinks it's a joke or that she stole someone's device, and does not believe anything and says goodbye. Then Casey is subdued by "Patricia".

Casey then begins to remember scenes of when he was the victim of abuse on the part of his uncle John, who became his legal guardian after the death of his father. The first time her uncle abused her was on a hunting trip they did with her father while he was sleeping; In another scene from her memories, she is about to kill her uncle with a shotgun, but hesitates, and loses the opportunity.

Dr. Fletcher is alarmed to see the large number of help emails she receives from Barry at the same time. Hurriedly, she arrives at Kevin's house to offer her help. Once inside, he begins to suspect that he can attack her, and tells him simply that he thinks it is best to see them in his office and speak more openly about the subject of "The Beast". He then asks him to go to the bathroom, which he actually uses as a pretext to find out what is happening in that house. Discover then one of the girls kidnapped (to Claire). Before I can help her, "Dennis" sleeps her as the girls slept. "Dennis" then appears in a train car and becomes "The Beast": it manifests surprising agility, strength, endurance and superhuman speed. Knowing that the only way to call "light" is for the real Kevin to say his full name, Dr. Fletcher writes it on a piece of paper before being killed by "The Beast." Meanwhile, the girls separately try to escape from their cells.

The Beast" kills first Marcia and then Claire; Meanwhile, Casey discovers the lifeless body of Dr. Fletcher, as well as the paper where she wrote down the full name of Kevin, what she uses to call him. Horrified by his actions (he asks Casey what happened and who did it), Kevin tells Casey where he keeps his shotgun and orders him to kill him before his personalities begin to take over. The personalities then begin to manifest themselves in that instant, one after the other, until they reach number 24, "The Beast." Casey flees and manages to lock himself in a cell; then, he shoots Kevin point-blank, although the wounds do not seem to affect him. The voice of "The Beast" says that his plans are to free the world from the "impure", those whose hearts are impure because they have never suffered "The Beast" is about to devour Casey when, suddenly, he notices the numerous scars what is in his body, and rejoices in the fact that she is "pure", like the twenty-four personalities, because she has suffered. Then flee the place. Later, Casey is rescued by one of Kevin's co-workers, and in doing so it turns out that the place where she was abducted was underneath the Philadelphia Zoo, where Kevin lived and worked, in the basement of the maintenance building. The co-worker helps him to move to a security hut and tells the officer to call the police. Casey is interrogated by an officer, who asks if she is ready to go home with her uncle. She hesitates, and you do not see what she decides to answer.

In another hiding place, "Dennis", "Patricia" and "Hedwig" exercise permanent control over Kevin's body and admire the power of "The Beast" and his plans to change the world.

In a restaurant, diners listen to the coverage of the crimes of Kevin, who has been nicknamed "The Horde". One of the clients observes the similarity between that nickname and that of a terrorist who used a wheelchair and who was arrested 15 years ago. Try to remember the name of that terrorist, and a man sitting next to her tells him: when the woman gets up, we see that it is David Dunn, who reminds the client that the terrorist had received the nickname "Don Cristal" .
