Swarm Intelligence in Honey Bees and Attractor Patterns in Humans
Attractor patterns
The honey bees dances which act as the "attractor patterns". These dance patterns signal the "best site". Swarm intelligence is what we are seeing with bees but we also see it with humans. With humans we could substitute the "dance pattern" with something as simple as a data feed (which often is just a rising price trend). The data feed pattern represents an attractor pattern which can attract a swarm.
Human beings are looking for "value". Swarms of human beings interested in value will look for certain attractor patterns that signal the kind of "value" they are looking for. Personal preference swarms bring AI into the mix by allowing non-human software agents to augment the human swarm capability.
Human-AI hybrid Swarms on Steemit
This will probably by controversial but bots are our friend. Curators can use bots to more equitably distribute Steem Power by letting the bots search for value. As long as these bots know what "attractor patterns" to look for then they'll converge toward posts of value. This may become necessary because the attention of curators is scarce but at the same time if a curator could correctly predict which posts will go viral then they have the most to win. In essence the curators in Steemit are like the scout bees searching for the most beautiful flowers.
These swarms also benefit minnows who could be seen as the deeper swarm. These minnows would benefit more if they had the ability to vote in sync and in essence pool their votes. This is possible simply by setting some criteria for how they would like to treat certain posts. The culture of minnows ultimately dictates the behavior of the swarm itself, while better tools such as bots with AI could be used in ways I can't fully predict or grasp. It could be used in trade, it could be used to enforce social norms or reward people with favorable reputations, it could be used to punish abuse.

I like the direction of the post, but my concern would be what if the swarm creates "attractor patterns" which are inherently bad? Consider your thoughts on swarm bots curating content. The attractor pattern which seems to be reinforced and rewarded in the current scheme (upvoting and payouts for "Travel and Tits" posts) would seem to be what the swarm would move to curate. On this topic I think I would disagree that human subjectivity could be replaced. However, abuse enforcement, payout and so on I think you may be on to something.
I think as long as the humans consuming the content are happy with the curation then it's fine. I don't see any content as inherently good or inherently bad, as long as no one is being abused. For example if humans or non-human animals are being abused in the production of the content then I'll vote it down. I don't see anything wrong with "Travel and Tits". I like to see the world and tits can be beautiful, so what is wrong with that?
In the current scheme, all forms of aesthetically pleasing images are rewarded. In the current scheme, a lot of women are voting and women might vote for other women. Perhaps what you mean to say is you disagree with how the whales are using their power but by voting for women it actually balances things out over time by giving them more Steem Power.
The only issue I have is when the women being voted for are frauds. Identity theft is a real problem with real victims. While "tits" are in my opinion not a real problem because who is the victim? Just don't look at that content if it's not your style.
great post thankyou for saying this......my thoughts exactly concerning the use of bots to vote on content, perhaps efficient in producing the Steem Dollars, but i think in the longterm the dollars will be gone when this beautiful and open idea of new economy of expression and value content is turned over to profitable but vacuous posts too repetitive in nature !!
