Climbing Viewing Mountain, Charvak, Uzbekistan

in #travelfeed5 years ago

Good afternoon!

Today I would like to talk about my trip to the Viewing Mountain, which is located near the Charvak reservoir. Frankly speaking, I’m not sure that this hilly mountain is officially called "Viewing Mountain". All the guides call it that, on the Internet there are links with such kind of mention but at the same time there are also posts where this mountain is called “Charvak Mountain.” Anyhow this mountain offers a magnificent view of the reservoir itself and the snowy ridges of the West Tien Shan.

I think there is no need to tell you that I went in this trip with “Mysterious Uzbekistan” team? ;-)

So, once I saw the announcement of the trip and immediately signed up for the group. Unfortunately, despite the impressive photos in the announcement, the group was extremely small - three tourists and a guide. Actually it was even more interesting. We left Tashkent at 7 a.m. and after a couple of hours began to rise. The sun had not yet fully left over the side of the mountain and painted the clouds in a beautiful pinkish color.

A couple of days before the trip, the weather in Tashkent turned bad - it was cloudy and it rained with snow. I was worried that it would be cloudy in the mountains too but the organizers of the trip reassured me, promising good weather and stunning clouds. As for the clouds, they did not deceive me. I have never seen such svoluminous clouds, as if molded from clay.

The clouds kept hiding the sun. It was very interesting to watch how a beautiful sunny landscape instantly becomes dark and gloomy. We gradually climbed up. Below in the juniper tree saw horses. Usually horses in the mountains of a dark color, so I did not immediately notice this horse.

The snow was getting deeper and deeper. I had to wade through it, falling down knee-deep. When the sun came out, it became very hot and sweat poured in streams. But as soon as the sun went down, it immediately got colder. Time by time sky was obscured by clouds, which were mixed with clubs of fog and creating a slightly surreal picture

If you do not know that the photographs were taken in the Tashkent region, then they are easily confused with the Himalayas.

Last years our weather has been very moody and the thaw in the mountains gives way to frost. Thanks to this, the trees and bushes were covered with a kind of snow-ice shell.

Finally, we climbed the summit of Viewing Mountain and simply gasped. From above was opened a beautiful view of the snow-covered Charvak reservoir and the surrounding mountains.

We made a small halt at the top to relax, dine and take pictures. I chewed sandwiches and could not tear myself away from the clouds - they seemed to rush through the sky, forming different patterns and curling in spirals.

But we could not sit for a long time - firstly, it was getting colder and secondly, we had to go down to the car in order to be able to return to Tashkent till evening. Therefore, we cast a farewell gaze at the panorama and set off on the return trip.

This weekend I planned two trips: climbing Mount Suren-ota and trekking to the frozen Tawaksai waterfalls. According to the announcements, the views should be amazing. The organizers warned that two trips would be difficult for me. Well, it will be a challenge for me.:-)
