KK: The Magician

Kasun Kalhara is a living legend of our generation and one of the all-time greatest vocalists in the Sri Lankan Music Industry. He is not an unknown or underrated artist to be honest.

Being the son to veteren musicians Malani Bulathsinhala and H. M. Jayawardena, he is very close to the early generations and recently with his appearence as a coach in the Voice Sri Lanka, discussion about him has increased more. As he could establish his own legacy rather than as a product of Nepotism, I think it's hard to find someone that hates him.

He is not a hyped/ overrated Auto-Tune artist as the most in current generation. Recently he had a concert named, Legends 2023 with some of the finest in Sri Lanka Indrachapa Liyanage, Nadeeka Guruge & Nadeeka Jayawardhana. These guys have a great chemistry between eachother, which make the work even more perfect.

Well, at that Kasun has said something extraordinary,

"We created songs back then, that held a special place in our hearts and to our own taste, even though we knew it might take time for people to embrace them. Now, those days have finally arrived, and our songs are being cherished as if they were brand new." Well, that's on point. In the fast decade, there were tons of garbage in our Music Industry which polluted the taste and most of the gems got hidden. But, recently the trend has been changed, and more and more quality products are being created. And with the power of technolog, those past hidden masterpieces also getting close to the audience.

With this saying of KK, I just searched for the releasing dates of some of his finest works.

• Sanda Mithuri, Meedum Dumaraye - 2009

These are some of his songs before, 2010. And his collabs with Indrachapa, Nadeeka produced abosolute masterpieces. So, as it seems, some of his hits are around 20 years old. And there is nothing wrong of his above statement. We embrace them, we love them, we value them just as brand new.

And it will be the same for a lifetime.!!!
